How fit is he? He looked absolutely exhausted towards the end of the game. Would it be asking too much to expect him to play again on Saturday?

He never striked me as an unfit player but he's not been playing regular football for either the eds or first team so it'd not be a surprise if he wasn't at his best, fitness wise. Probably lacking a tad bit of match sharpness. He was blowing from a couple of his lung bursting defending moments though so maybe it's just that. Either way he's a class act and he's going to the very top. I wrote on my blog once that I could see him playing for Spain one day and I stand by that.

Well if we hadn't played a weakend side with youth we wouldn't have this thread. Huge contrast to what City and the Rags were 4-5 years ago. We always had big names on the sheet, yesterday the Rags had 0 youth players (except Rashford who isn't a youth for me anymore) in that team. If we don't give these guys a chance we will never have a great academy as most of us want. I am sure when the U-21s/18s/16s saw Garcia and Maffeo play 90 minutes yesterday they must have gotten extra motivation of trying harder to break into the first team. Till date we have had decent players but none of them have been given a chance except Kelechi (who mind you was behind Aguero and Bony last season and got way less game time than this season). The likes of Denis Suarez could have still been at the club if we had taken this approach earlier. The game yesterday might have been lost but it affects the mind of a young player when choosing between two clubs. The same thing that let the Rags lose Pogba and had to pay 100 million again for.

Well, with all the enthousiasm on here whatever you try to say to defend the lad is taken as critisism it seems. Maffeo is what 19? And yes, he had a great game last night. And yes, he has the talent and character to get where I wanna see players from the EDS ending up: in the 1st team.

I think his performance will be hard for him to repeat on a regular basis at the moment. When I say he needs to develope, I mean he still has things to learn up until the moment he is ready to further develope as a regular starter. Not sure if he's reach that point yet, but it is great to see him getting nearer and nearer to that moment. Anyways, we'll soon find out if Pep thinks he's ready to do so.
Expectations will be far more different in the next game. I'm sure Pep and his team will know how and when to build up his minutes in the first team. I've seen too many youngsters being hyped for having the one good game these last few years. Youngsters that we all thought were terrific talents and ready to fill in. But most of them faded after one or two first team appearances. I don't want that to happen with Maffeo.

A. Garcia played another great game yesterday, like he did when playing Swansea for the LC. He's is ahead of Maffeo in maturity and closer to being involved in the first team more often. His performance yesterday was very good in a position that is far more difficult and responsible than where Maffeo is playing. In fact I thought Garcia was the only player on the pitch that actually tried to play football and dictating play. Not faultless, no player is, but impressive.

Him and Garcia definatley deserve a home Premier League game. I wouldn't play either V West Brom's cloggers though, the game could pass them by

Imagine when he actually gets stronger and grows fully into his body.

He reminds me of Gary Neville from a defensive point of view (and that's a compliment)

It's only right that another Pablo should carry on the torch.

Very exciting to see kids like this come through.

I was pleased as punch with him, he did great. One for the (not so far away) future. And he will be learning the style Guardiola wants as he develops, rather than taking to it late like a lot of our established players are struggling with. Happy all round with him

That was such a mature performance, and he was definitely being targeted which makes it all the more impressive.

Both youngsters where big highlights in an otherwise disappointing game

His determination and effort to stay with pogba was the highlight of the night., something a lot of our players no longer have. Fire him in, cant do anyone worse than the rest if the. well done son.

Agreed mate, was watching him busting a gut to keep up with Pogba, which he did so brilliantly to save a certain goal. Something that was also noticed by Willy too. I hope this lad can push on now and become a regular.
