Palace (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Akanji was excellent when he came on. If Walker not fit v Real, Akanji should play RB. Please no Alverez to start

great controlled performance.

Shame we couldnt keep it tight at the end as GD could make a difference and anything to add that little more pressure.

Utd will roll over for Liverpool - despite what their fans say they are desperate not to see us win a title....though it makes little difference as if Liverpool play any where near their potential they could score 10 past them they are that shit.

Hoping Brighton give Arsenal a hard game and a positive result for us is more likely in that game....

KDB interestingly dropping deeper than usual in todays game I think worked better than playing further up top and closer to Haaland - it gave him more time. - two fantastic finishes

Think there is a strong argument for Akanji being player of the month at present....very very solid and good on the ball...If walker is fit for Madrid Id like to see Akanji start at left back ahead of Gvardiol

Rico lewis with a very very mature performance and deserved his goal....

Haalands work rate has notably increased off the ball this season and it was evident today....deserved his goal

Indifferent first half, but great second half and in complete control until their 2nd goal. Dias wrong side again.
Jack Grealish magnificent game again, hand in all four goals. Kev with two blasters and one from Erling. Concerned at the ease of the 2 we conceded though. To be honest, a 2 goal win at Palace, can’t be sniffed at.

The game changed when Akanji came on for Gvardiol, freeing up Grealish to be properly effective. Gvardiol hadn't helped Jack at all unfortunately.

Grealish was essential to all four goals: crosses/assists for two and the pre-assists for the other two.

Rico in his post-match interview said Gvardiol came off because he was feeling a niggle. If that's true, that would be very disappointing because that sub should have been Pep's choice, not the big improvement more by luck than judgement.

Well played CITY!

An indifferent first half, but what a strike by Kev, wow!

They obviously got a bollocking from Pep and came out firing in the second.
We played some good stuff in that half and scored some great goals and the football for Kev's second was brilliant. We went into cruise control at 4-1 and gifted them a needless second though.
We can't afford to play like that on Tuesday, but in the end it was a good away win.

CITY, CITY, CITY!!!

Insanely good at times but could have done without the second half dip that cost us on GD. We remain the biggest threat to ourselves.

Concentration levels have to go up a notch now.

Kev responding to the Rodri is best player in the world talk :)

Rico showing he has much to offer.

Much needed time in Stones’ legs.

Jack looking good.

The good…Got the points and good performances from Rico, KDB and Jack. Rodri excellent in the 2nd half after an abysmal opening 45.

The bad…This defence is gonna cost us. Not only are they all over the fucking show defensively, watching them in possession is so fucking painful it’s unreal. Stones and Dias taking 50 touches when 1 will do. Full backs (not so much Rico) thinking they’re far better on the ball than they are. They invite pressure every week and today was as bad as it’s been. Palace have scored 2 against us and haven’t created anything themselves. We can’t be making it that easy for the opposition.

Job done but it’s hard to feel comfortable for the remainder of the season, especially the CL where we will face far better than the likes of Palace.

Let’s hope Palace cause the dippers similar problems next weekend.
Though I’m expecting them to gift a few goals and then crumble.

Good second half performance unfortunately overshadowed by the last 15 minutes of the match. KDB, Grealish and Rodri were brilliant and now there is another headache for Madrid. Who plays in midfield?
Kdb should start, it's a toss up between Bernie and Phil for the other spot, I'd prefer Foden and Bernie out wide. Bernie has the control but no incision/creativity central, he had a chance to put Haaland in late on in the game and chose to pass wide to Grealish.

Very Good win,
But we are struggling with the defence set-up without Walkers pace of recovery and we look all over the place at times. Palace defended well and on the break looked dangerous, The 3 points were well earned and onto the next game

Looked like we'd walked into a gunfight holding a banana in the first half but after the break and a few words from Pep we strolled it in the end.

Just been over to RAWK to see how they're taking it, and guess what, the answer is "not very well".

Apparently it was a nailed on penalty that the corrupt Tierney didn't give and it'd be nice if they got some of the decisions we ALWAYS get. Also Kev's fat and the refs are going to hand us the title whilst fucking them over.

Happy days :D
