Palace (A) Post Match Thread

We've got two problems in the team in Gundogan and Bernardo. Neither move the ball quickly enough and don't provide enough threat going forward. Thought defensively we were fine, Sane tried but was too isolated and we're definitely starting to miss overlaps from the fullbacks.

+1

I'm sure there is precedent from a few years ago when a ref rescinded a yellow card from a City player so the FA could ban him. The ref stated that he didn't realise the severity of the tackle. Surely there's a case for Puncheon's tackle on KDB where he didn't make any attempt to play the ball, just had his eye on KDB whilst the pen was being taken with a view to taking him out!
I think the case in question was Aguero Reid where Reid was fouling Aguero so he swung an elbow breaking his jaw the ref did nothing as it was two players fouling each other and the ball had gone out of play, i do not remember a yellow but the ref did note it on his notes , so nothing could be done about it , cue change of laws. It is similar with Rooney getting Kompany sent off they had to adapt the laws, and Adebayors still the only player to be banned for smiling

Yep the family banned our full back (whose name escapes me at the moment for the elbow on a Portsmouth player). The ref had seen the incidentals either booed him or spoke to him. The FA banned him for about 10 games. To be far after that assault I didn' want him playing for us again as it was a disgusting elbow.

Ben Thatcher. Like you say you though, he deserved everything he got for that "challenge"
He was lucky he didn't get his collar felt to be honest.

Do you think Sane and Ferandinho both booked today as 5th yellow so they miss Watford and make sure they are available for the Liverpool game? I know Sanes yellow made him look petulant but do you think he knew what he was doing?
Cheers for your interest. I have been told that the 19th game was a cut off for previous yellows - so they start another sequence up to 10 yellows but then it is a 2 match ban.

Have to mention Kevin Horlock - booked for aggresive walking - Lol

As an away day slightly disappointed with our away support ( not many seemed to know the chants - Palace home support as always were brilliant tbh). Seemed to be alot of fans who definitely aren't regulars being critical of Sane, KDB and Aguero, it was one of the quieter away days I've been too, I think people are quick to forget what it used to be like to be a city fan.... anyway what a move on from last year grinding out a 0-0 draw which shows real character...especially Ederson and Otamendi with the last ditch header and save. The tackle on KDB was absolutely awful....

To be fair I think both are needing time to acclimatise to English football.gundouan before his injury last year was starting to look the goods and I think is slowly warm8ng to it, whilst Bernardo is the same player who smashed us for Monaco and will come goof with a season under his belt. I still think pep sees him as long term replacement for the genius Merlin, big shoes to fill but similar player.give him time.

Cannot believe we got the draw pre game - Roy is doing very well.

great run my team is on(not like man cities - but we haven't lost for ages). obviously not gonna get involved in the arguments against my teams players(this is your forum). But I am proud of my lads - ok we could have won (pen)- but that wouldn't have been deserved. A point and then a win v southampton is more than I could have asked for.

You don't have to argue, just offer your honest opinion on the conduct of the two in question and also the Zaha penalty incident. It always great to hear the opposition view,it makes for good debate :-)

Cruicate ligament injuries confirmed for both Dann and Puncheon. Might not be ready to play even at the start of the next season.
I don’t wish injuries on anyone but, as others have pointed out, this is a case of bringing misfortune on themselves and, unfortunately, they are deserving of it.

Roy is doing well but some of the tackles plus the dive doesnt do your team any credit .at least we bounced back last night

Well i love Zaha so much. He gets a lot of fouls, and he plays for them sometimes, which these type of players do- they beat a player on purpose as they are to quick and get legitimate fouls (but make them)

This one was over zealous and stupid and was a dive, looking for a pen that wasn't on .. But then loads do it.

Dann is also a big favourite to us fans - he probally just got lost in the moment. I have never seen him do really bad things before(if it was really bad), punch has a temper on him and thinks he is better than he is. he isnt one of our top players and I am not surprised- good servant to palace but like i said . I am not surprised.

No one wants their players to do stupid - dangerous things - but sometimes if you are just not good enough to match the passing and dribbling and are overly pumped(like this is the best pl IMO ever) to get a win or draw - players can do stupid things.

Must have missed Dann doing it to Aguero a few years ago at your place. So basically what you're saying without actually saying it is Zaha dived and your two players should have been off. Fair dos. Quite like Palace hope they stay up, just wished they didn't go all out to injure our players.

Not 100% on zaha diving (90%)- but it wasn't a pen - he may have just fallen over - but it did look like a dive to me as he is normally way to strong to go down like that with a tiny bit of pressure.

rewatching - scott danns tackle(push) it was was tactical imo - he didn't mean to injure KDB imo-jhe didnt kick out - it was obstruction., but he injured himself!!

yellow card as players were infront. by the book..

punch's was a horrid challenge. its good to see KDB doest seem to be injured (thankfully) - as that was a horrid challenge. punch deserved a red.

Found out yesterday that both the Palace players who committed fouls on KdB, are now both out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament injuries. So in a way they have got more than a 3 game ban which they would have got if they were not injured.
