Palace FA Cup Post Match

I was privileged to be there today. So many positives, but especially Vinnie who looked colossal, and Jesus who just may be our new messiah. He was mightily impressive - great touches, fast, tricky, can shoot, hard working, and tough. Plus it was like playing in the arctic out there at 1 stage, but he was still going at full pelt to the end.
Great away day - great atmosphere. Great goals. Great result. Great full debut - trust me - one day in the not too distant future, this will be as memorable as York away! Jesus really does look THAT good to me.
Honourable mentions for Willy, Yaya and Sane.
Finally, David Silva: what a privilege it is to see such an artist. Fantastic!
De Bruyne, Kun and Fernandino to come back in too. If we can get the points at West Ham, we'll start flying again.
I just watched it on MOTD. Agree Jesus looks like is going to be some player for us. I really like our forward line of Sterling, Sane and Jesus.

Can people please pack it in with this 'great save' by Caballero. Now before anyone says I'm anti-Willy (!), I'm not. I backed him after all the shite he got last season after the Chelsea game. However, the save today wasn't great, people are just using it as a stick to beat Bravo with. It was an OK save, but certainly not anything that needs highlighting.

Great performance today and our future is very bright indeed. The biggest delight was to see our captain fantastic back with a bang, stay the full 90 mins and guess what....we kept a clean sheet. We emphasize on certain individuals throughout the course of a season, but nothing could be bigger than to get our Captain back in our defence. Vinny instills confidence throughout and it cannot be coincidence that a clean sheet occurs.

I honestly have a feeling we are going to push on now, is it too late ? Never...we have done it before #Together CTID

Its a shame, but we cannot rely on Vincent. Also they could easily have scored at least two had they been as clinical as recent opponents. Its Vincents swansong and hopefully a happy one.

not heard your anti willy, in fact the opposite

Keep De Bruyne and Silva AWAY from that front three:
This I believe should be the motto or strategy going forward for the rest of the season. Midfielders should be midfielders and attackers should be attackers and I classify these two as midfielders along with Yaya, Fernando, Fernandinho, Delph, Garcia (and Gundogan). So the manager should select from these players for the three midfield spots and select from Aguero, Gabriel, Sane, Sterling, Navas, Nilito and Iheanacho for the attacking/striking spots. If we keep to this strategy and not cram midfielders on the pitch then every line up will be sufficient, strong and balanced enough to beat any team in the premiere league and compete against anything in the world. The team is quite strong.

There are obviously issues at the back especially in the goal keeping position but the King has returned, Elessar himself and if he remains fit it will be a major boost for the team in terms of leadership and organizing the defense. I did not have the opportunity to watch the game and missed the Josh thing but from what I saw from the highlights and what I have read, Kompany looked solid and dominant and that has to be the most important thing to take from this match. The captain is back.

As I said, play that midfield three, the combination of which may vary depending on the opposition and can range from very attacking (theoretically): Delph, Fernandinho Yaya, De Bruyne and Silva (pick three) to very defensive: Fernando: Fernandinho, Delph and so on depending on the situation and match but we should only play three at the same time and ensure that the front three is free for the aforementioned attacking/strking players. If we want to play more than three midfielders then we WILL have to ditch the full backs and go for 343 (which we did against Chelsea) and that worked very well but the key is that we keep that front three intact i.e. make sure in EVERY GAME we play three of Gabriel, Aguero, Sane, Sterling Navas, Nolito or Iheanacho.

Not Gundugan's fault ofcourse and I am not blaming him but we began to struggle when we deviated from this original 4141/433 system to accommodate him on the pitch and that affected the balance of the team and when he comes back, he should join the other midfielders competing for the three spots. The funny thing is that we are better defensively when we play Silva and De Bruyne in the midfield. That is because all good midfielders can tackle and press and De Bruyne and Silva are no different.

So If you look at the starting line up today, we spared that front three for the likes of Gabriel, Sane and Sterling. All hard working players that can defend, fight as well as attack and the result therefore was not a surprise. Gabriel is already becoming one of the most important players in the team. He brings real energy and spirit and he is ready to cry, wail and will the team to victory. Intangibles are important and he brings loads and his introduction to the team cannot be better timed. We needed him. Sane also showing that he is going to be immense for the team as he continues to develop and Sterling showed good conviction for his goal. So the future is certainly bright.

No, it was an OK save, but I can think of someone who wouldn't have got anywhere near it.

He'll be playing on Wednesday.
