Panel concludes manager John Yems is 'not a conscious racist'

I’m 60, as is @jimharri.

I’m not at all racist, and nor is Jim, as far as I’m aware.

Don’t tar us all with the same brush.
But can we feather you with the same goose?

I'm guessing you're irony impaired after that ageist rant

Jokes aside—and I can’t believe I am defending @Stephen230 —I think the main point was not that all older people are racist, but that many (old and young) people often extend leniency to older people for being racist or saying racist things (subtle or overt) that they don’t necessarily afford younger people. And that it shouldn’t be extended to anyone of reasonable mental acuity now, regardless of age. Everyone of sound mind should know it is unacceptable in any context.

I mean, I thought it would go without saying that I wasn’t talking about EVERY old person. I’m not far off myself.

I definitely believe he needs a diversity and inclusion course.

Just a waste of time and resources when it could be better served helping elsewhere, this verdict is a total copout and needs a proper investigation it truly beggars belief, I'd suggest it's actually the panel who reviewed his case that need the course you mentioned instead at least if not sacked, people like this manager aren't redeemable he needs nothing less than a lifetime ban from football related activities.

I am 75 shortly and was brought up in South Manchester. In the 50s as kids we used to refer to Palatine Road as Palestine Road, to Didsbury as Yidsbury. The phrase ‘You lucky Jew’ was commonplace.
Black people of Caribbean background started to live in the area. We used to run alongside men leaving the local factory on bikes saying to them: “Are you a black man, are you a black man?”
I must have been about ten years old when I realised that such behaviour was wrong. I don’t see that age is any excuse today.

An employment tribunal or a court might conclude that a lifetime ban was not lawful.

As you are now defending blatant ageism, is it fair to assume you're part of an independant panel?
