The fail states "van gaal can claim his firdt.trophy"

That's what they said about Moysie and the Community Shield.

It's worth noting that the scum also won the away record shield, CL group stage trophy, and if they win this us thing that will be a 'quadruple'.

We learned that the whole attack to try and boost our presence in America over the last 4 years has been a complete waste of time!

Liverpool out numbered us 10 to 1 in New York, where we have had a City in the Community scheme running for 3 years, have played on numerous occasions, have set-up a football club for the city with a large advertising budget running adverts 24-7. And this is on the back of us winning the league twice in that time period too.

Liverpool have put zero effort in to building there fan base over there, and have won nothing of note for almost 10 years, yet we are as far behind them as ever. Scary to think just how far behind Utd we must be.

City need to rethink if we ever hope to get big in USA. A major USA based sponsor would probably boost popularity 20% over night, but is that likely with our links to Abu Dhabi? Probably not.

very interesting post

Yes, an interesting viewpoint. Something else to consider is, god knows what potential sponsors made of it. It's not an appealing prospect, to throw huge sums of money at a team with very few supporters, which is how it must have looked.

Large Irish contingent in the Northeastern USA, which is further bolstered by Fenway (Boston) being the Dippers owners. Don't forget, football has been quite big here for a generation, there just has not been the exposure of more recent years. Therefore, anyone who started following more than 3 yrs ago probably has much more affiliation with United and Lpool simply because of the Irish connection and their respective histories of the last 20 yrs.

The real test of City brand building will come in the next few years, which is why City have to continue to be successful and why NYCFC is going all out to bring marquee names and a professional attitude from the outset.

When all is said and done, Mansour doesn't need City to be as big as anyone else, he needs the City brand to leverage global revenues across CFG, with City obviously being the star attraction, marquee name that brings in the most coin.

Marketing isn't my speciality, but i suspect a lot of the effort being made now isn't targeted at those already with an affiliation, it's for the next generation coming through.

Those dipper fans, Arse fans and the hordes of rags (turning up to see Real Madrid play!) are there mainly as a result of those teams dominating in the in past 30 years. If you could jump forward 30 years, and watch a similar pre-season friendly in 2044, I reckon you'd see a very different demograph then.

Easy, just photoshop your team colours into the crowd. Worked for Real Madrid's newspaper arm Marca.

We need to stop caring what Sky Sports News reports - they aren't a 'NEWS' channel.

SSN only reports news on sports they cover on their other channels, therefore it is nothing more than a glorified trailer/summary channel - it's there solely to build up interest in their other channels - when did you last see a BT Sport advert on SSN? Yet every second advert is for another Sky product (Channels/SkyBet etc)

For example, they never used to even mention Formula One until they were broadcasting it. When was the last time you saw mention of the Henley Regatta or UK Wrestling on SSN?

It's a marketing channel - nothing more nothing less - so giving positive stories about United and 'Pool is them pandering to the customers who have never been anywhere near a football stadium, but need information to enhance their reflected glory, whilst consolidating fans of those clubs views that us investing money into football is evil.

The Plastic fans the club is looking to attract will only follow City if they are Winners and wining the games in the USA and not just in England.
They will only come on board for the reflective glory and City's problem seems to be every time we tour America we do it with a team made up of Stiffs and not our first team and I feel this is counter productive.

We should either go with a full strength side or not at all imho

Exactly my thinking, from a securing a much larger piece of the global pie perspective, which is what this tour was aimed at doing,i don't think we've done ourselves justice.

The reality is,as was evident by shirts in the crowds,we have a long way to go in terms of catching the others.

There are new global fans out there to attract but not on the scale we see the rags and the dippers have, they cornered the market in the late 80's and the 90's.

they are by their nature plastic so they will convert to us for a while, when we hit the rocks, one day we will i assure you, they will move on the next team likely to win stuff.

The nasty red c**t Mark Ogden has already been at it on Twitter. A face you'd never get tired of slapping.
I've read the Telegraph for years but Mogadon Man and the idiots from Asia and wherever who all claim to be from Manchester have finally driven me away.

Your first four words sum him up to a 't'
