And who wanted it more! Like most Americans at this Olympics. He's just ran a National Record. His walk was pretty good, he just came up against someone who had the race of his life.

Yep. I think there’s a 43.5s in him there but he’s more likely to tie up in the final.GB Schedule
7th August
The first event of the day is indeed golf and doesn't warrant further investigation!
Matthew Hudson-Smith v Quincy Hall v Kirani James in the 400m is the one to watch for me. We have a genuine chance of gold but Hudson-Smith will probably need to break his British Record from London, 3 weeks ago.

What are you on about??Since when did not crossing the line in a race constitute a medal position? I thought you had to cross the line to finish, thereby getting gold (obviously), silver, bronze. I don't watch athletics much but seeing these photo finishes shows that 2nd and 3rd places are determined when the winner crosses the line, not when the others finish their race.
Take the women's 200m. Won handsomely by the US and then two metres back the other places are decided. Wierd,
That doesn't mean number 1 is the line. She's probably already finished.View attachment 127618This, seems to me that this is where the race positions are decided

Ok, so the line for 3rd place is actually the finish line. Sorted! If this was the case, when the winner of a long distance race crosses the line well ahead of the field, the rest of them would just stop racing.
I'm not convinced Bol will even get close. Mclaughlin decimated the field without breaking a sweat.Sydney McLoughlin's utter dominance of her semi-final was startling; she is a phenomenon. There's no doubt the final will be closer, but, good lord, what an athlete.
Have we really got nobody in the Taekwondo? We used to be pretty good in that

52 is so easy for Sydney, yet she was half a second faster than Bol.I'm not convinced Bol will even get close. Mclaughlin decimated the field without breaking a sweat.
That is a series of very thin photos of the exact finish line taken at 1/1000 sec intervals that are then stitched together to look like a single photo (with the part on the right being earlier than the part on the left). Hence the weird angles on some of the arms and legs. It isn't a single point in time.View attachment 127618This, seems to me that this is where the race positions are decided
