Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

Is that a bit harsh or fair enough?!
I thought three points would have been fair. It’s a shame for the players though unless of course they knew and condoned it.
The coaches’ punishments are a bit lenient I felt.

Please bear in mind that Canada are my ‘second’ team after GB & NI as my granddaughters both play football (soccer) for their Universities and I may be slightly biased. :-)

It seems at least in part a warning to anyone considering it in the future - Canada might still sneak through, and a 3 pt penalty may not be too much.

I wonder for the players if they watched the video or had it described "the other lot do this and this...".

Just watched a bit of fencing. Almost impossible to tell when right-of-way/priority applies.

Interesting watching a France vs China final basically stand passively for the last 90 seconds with the scores even, meaning extra time and a toss of a coin as to had to attack.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but the Olympic tennis that did get played indoors today was quite entertaining.

I especially enjoyed the Nadal/Alcaraz "upset" of the #6 seeded Argentine team. That was a closer match than the score indicated with Spain down 0-3 in the 2nd set before their comeback.

For those that think Nadal might be done, he carried Spain today and had some brilliant net play. Nice to have the now #1 clay court player by his side, but Rafa more than held his own.

I'm thankful for US Peacock coverage of tennis as the main TV networks showed none of it as it is in the first round, but very welcome for those of us who love tennis.

It’s a 6 point penalty. I was asked if I thought it was fair and was replying that I thought 3 would have been. They could still do it and get through the group stage. :-)

Them fencers are nutters, enjoyed it.
