I can see it now a back 5. Rodri, Fernandinho, Gundogan in midfield. Foden and KDB as attack. Preemptively guessing the lineup because I will lose my shit if I don't prepare myself and Pep uses 2/3 of the squad to mark Mbappe. Can we just play our normal style in these kinds of matches?

Funny you should ask that as I have just been looking at what their fans think. The vast majority, that I can see, are very confident. Arrogant even. Underestimating us.

They should bet on themselves because not one bookmaker agrees.

As you would expect it’s mainly based on their confidence in Neymar and Mbappe. They are also ignoring the huge amounts of luck they had beating Barca and Bayern and believe they are better than them and us. Its also based on their speed vs a high line.

They also think that their squad is better than ours now they are all fully fit.

Honestly they are no better than Dortmund and are struggling to win the French League with their superstars.

In the CL they’ve lost to United and Leipzig. We have lost to NOBODY The only team unbeaten.

Transfermarkt have City valued at £924 million and PSG at £746 million and we are at full strength too.

Contrast their self belief with some City fans posting they are “scared” of PSG (not that I can see that on BM by the way)

Decent officials and no fuck ups = not a problem for us. They’re just not as good as they think they are.
Exactly. It would be unacceptable if we lose another tie from a less fancied club and another club in the Frog League. I just don't get all this worrying and gushing of PSG, Neymar, Mbappe.. from our supporters. Scrubs from their league are beating them left and right and their performances in CL have been jammy at best and yet we're the the ones who have to accomodate our style against them. It's about time we show our dominance in Europe and show who is the biggest dog in town.

I hadn't realised that PSG are in a pretty serious domestic competition this season, assumed that it would be their normal routine league title by now.

@Parisian how's the feeling at your end ? PSG prioritising CL ?
CL is always the priority at PSG even if the Ligue 1 win is also important and viewed as the bare minimum. If we win the CL, the loss of the L1 won't be that much of a problem but it will still be a domestic failure. If we lose both, it will be the worst season since the takeover results wise.

There is a combination of factors leading to this situation.
First one is the shameful calendar of the Ligue 1. The league started the very same day we were playing the CL finals against Bayern, meaning we had no break, no summer physical training and on top of that we lost half the team or more due to Covid for the first weeks/month.
Second one is Covid/injuries which have plagued the team throughout the season. Mbappé who is flying now had a very poor start of the season. Neymar is nowhere to be seen in the league this season. He played like less than half of the games and has been unusually poor despite some glimpse of talent here and there. It seems like he is doing his best in CL this season though.
Third one, PSG simply can't deal with buses this season. We are way better when counter-attacking and it doesn't happen in L1 unless we have the lead. The problem is we can't even keep a lead to save our life. We need at least a 3 goal margin to be safe.

In summary, PSG is simply not good enough this season. If it was a matter of choosing their games, they would have beaten their rivals for the title. Instead, they lost against all of them and only beat Lyon once. Got 1/6 againt Lille and 0/6 against Monaco.

I wonder what PSG think of us? Our European performances have been excellent this year and our control of the game on Sunday must have registered with them. They won’t have played many better than us in the past year.
PSG ? I think they see you as a serious opponent like Bayern in the previous round. There are no easy games and they won't go thinking it will be easy. However, they will still go confident they can win as they should.

As for the fans, the optimism is good after eliminating Bayern. The thought is we can beat anyone if we are on our good day. Problem with PSG is you never know what kind of performance you can expect from the team. Sometimes, the team looks perfect on the sheet, and they dump the biggest pile of sh*t for seemingly no reason. Sometimes, we don't even dare to hope and they display a wonderful performance.

I think City will dominate both games as their midfield, their wings and their overall play is better. However, CL has shown that what matters in the end is how efficient you are in both boxes (defensively, GK performance and forward lethality). Both teams will have their chances and small details will make some big difference for one team or the other.
