There’s a lot saying Zinch shouldn’t play at LB. He’s been decent, and Di Maria might not be able to outpace him, plus Zinch is a midfielder and will run all day.
We MUST take our chances against these or we WILL regret it. They will score, it’s just a matter of how many.
If we can get 1 or more, the game will certainly open up.
Bernardo and Foden will be crucial tonight.

This game has all the making of being better than the final.

I fucking hope not, firstly because Mbappe is quicker.

Secondly, because I hate that ego shit he likes to do and then gets muscled off the ball.

He did the same in the away game at Madrid last year.

Walker just needs to keep things simple and that includes trying to join up with stupid passes into midfield, he can't do it. Give it back to Stones or Dias, rinse and repeat.

It is actually Cancelo on the other side who worries me more, though, he will always have problems against a tricky guy like Di Maria.

Bernie needs to be on Veratti like lightning, they will be desperate for quick out ball through the middle.

I don't think there's much in it between Walker and Mbappe - it depends on starting position obviously and our main form of defence should be a line that is sat back and a goalkeeper that is stood on the edge of the box so any ball over the top has to be so accurate for them to get to it. Our pressing should mean any ball into the middle is with their back to our goal so they can't go anywhere easily. Dortmund managed to slot some through us, and if PSG do the same and find Neymar for example, we'll be carved open.

Generally though, sharp and accurate passing and dominating possession will see us through this tie. If we play like we did on Sunday, and against Villa we will win both games in my opinion.

I know Pep has eased off the big brain tactics in big games this season but can't help but think he will be too worried about mbappe to not try something. Could we see laporte left back and give walker a man marking job on mbappe? That way we could have a back 4 in possession that could go to a back 3 with stones and laporte either side of dias and walker just following mbappe.

It's all opinions but I think Zinchenko's better. He's put in big performances against the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Dortmund and not made a mistake, and been part of a very solid defence up against some very good wingers. Every time we have a big match people say he'll be exposed and he isn't.

Cancelo has made mistakes, he cost us the Leeds game only a couple of weeks ago. His concentration levels are questionable.

Also Zinchenko being left footed makes a big difference when it's Dias and Stones in defence. We saw how bad our build up was against Dortmund with Cancelo LB, and Pep called it out after the game and used Zinchenko in the second leg.

Plus Di Maria is 33 and isn't going to bomb down the outside to expose Zinchenko's only real weakness, pace. He's going to drift inside, into midfield spaces where Zinchenko is much better.

Di Maria has a habit of bottling big matches, especially for Argentina and United. Let's see what happens.
