Was there any real need to Taser the passenger? The police are getting far to handy with these Taser guns - no need for a lot of it.
Anyone know the passenger?

Passenger Tasered After Stripping Off At Airport

A drunk airline passenger who stripped naked on the tarmac and challenged the flight captain to a fight had to be tasered by police.
The burly, tattooed 52-year-old was caught on video stripping to his black underpants, shouting and remonstrating after stepping off the easyJet flight from Malta to Manchester.

He then removed the underpants and was given hard slap across his face by his female companion before putting his clothes back on.
The stripper, who has not been identified but spoke with a Manchester accent, also urinated on the side of the Terminal One building at Manchester Airport.

He was later tasered and arrested by police.
Trouble reportedly first began mid-flight when the man became abusive and started swearing at fellow passengers and the captain left the cockpit controls to speak to him.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "At 9.50am on Thursday September 26 2013, police were called to Terminal One arrivals of Manchester Airport following reports a man was drunk and being abusive to passengers on a flight from Malta.

"As he left the plane, he took his clothes off and urinated against a wall.

"A 52-year-old man was stunned using an electronic stun gun and arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
"He was issued a fixed penalty notice."

It says he was tasered and arrested later on so there’s no way of knowing whether it was necessary, if he was resisting arrest then probably so.

If I was sat on that flight and was being delayed because of this ****, they could have shot him in the head for all I care.

I'm guessing that he wasn't tasered for simply removing his clothes and urinating on a wall.

If it was up to me I'd have had him tasered on the flight - can't be pleasant sitting near some clown like that in a confined space with no way of being able to move you and possibly your kids to a safer spot.

I don't know if the tasers used in this country are the same as in America but the number of deaths attributed to the police use of them there is rapidly approaching 1,000.

I think they are becoming far too readily used in this country. We had the case of the local lad the other week at the ice cream place. They can be deadly weapons and in my opinion should only be used when the police feel there is no other safe way of restraining a person.

Every case should be judged on its merits and we don't know the full story here. But my initial thoughts are a pissed up bloke who clearly isn't armed could be quite easily restrained by trained officers without the need for this.

I'd be interested to read what the official guidelines are for police as to when they should and shouldn't use them.

This is exactly my take also Tidyman. It's gone to far with the Tasers. The police just being 'Macho'.
