Hope these signings aren't instead of the ' big ones ', as good as Roberts and Delph may turn out to be. I wouldn't put any of them as starters for the first team though, unlke Sterling who will slot straight in.

He's costing us 10 mill yet the media are suggesting that this is HUGE money :)
It's not 10 million straight cash though it's 5 million up front and another 5 million if he meets certain targets. Could be 50 1st team games or if he plays for England.Shit like that.

Fulham boss Kit Symons has confirmed Patrick Roberts has handed in a transfer request and is close to a move to Manchester City.

Reports on Saturday suggested Roberts, 18, was the subject of a £5m bid from City, which could rise to £11m with add-ons.

Symons revealed the England Under-19 international, tipped as one of the club’s hottest prospects, is in advanced negotiations with City.

After the 3-1 friendly win over Crawley, the Whites boss said: “It’s progressing, it’s fair to say. He’s in serious talks with them so we’ll have to wait and see.

“He’s handed in a transfer request and he’s only got one year left on his contract.

“We want to keep all of our best players and build for the future but there comes a point where you have to do the right thing for the football club. If it is £11m it’ll be nice to get.

“It’ll be a shame to lose one of our bright young talents but I need to have people who are committed and want to play for the club.

“He could sign a pre-contract agreement abroad in January and walk away for next to nothing. We’re mindful of that and we’ve had numerous discussions with the chairman about it.

“I sat down with Pat and his parents and we told him how much we valued him and wanted him at the football club but they’ve made their minds up that this is what they wanted to do.”

Saw him a few years ago for Fulham youth and he was younger than the rest of the team but was by far and away the best player on the pitch. Thought at the time that we have to sign this kid!

Liverpool fans are the most deluded set of fans you could come across about Roberts

The difference between their new campus and the likes of our academy, or Arsenal's, or United's, isn't going to make much (if any) difference to Roberts development though.

Having a manager and club who has a history of bringing through young players from their academy, of giving them time to develop, of not just going out and spending millions on any holes in their squad rather than promoting from within.... that's the sort of thing which would make the difference.

I agree. The chances are we didn't follow up our interest in Roberts (we've been linked with for a while now) because he would have chosen us over City imo.

How many of their fabled academy are regularly playing in their first team I wonder I believe its NONE

Oh and of course every young player in the country would rather play for a team playing in Europa league and fighting for 6th rather than for the 2 times champions in the last 4 years playing champions league football with some of the worlds greatest players.....deluded or what!!!!

At least when we were crap we knew it

I like the look of this one, (from the little I've seen admittedly) a ball player who's not scared of picking it up and going forward. Looks tidy in tight spaces and an eye for a goal.
Another cracking bit of business from the club.
