I really like Gvardiol at Red Bull given the choice. Wonder if they get Cucurella they'll go with Dias/Laporte as the LCB and grab a RCB instead Kounde etc.

Yeah, let's spent 60M£ on Torres and sell Ake for 30M£. Makes a lot of sense in terms of 4th CB who is the same as Laporte and Stones lol

So let's spend 80M£ on the right guy. Instead of strengthening the other positions, let's spend the next big amount of money on the next right guy as a 4th choice center-back. Amazing strategy, top in terms of business.

Who said Ake was going for 30m? Try 50-60 as quoted for Newcastle. And yes the replacement needs to be top level, and why is having a cb closely resembling Stones and Laporte a bad thing? You’ve had a mare here

And that would be a profit anyway. Signing someone for £50m on a 5 year deal costs us £10m per year, but selling Ake for £50m is a £26m profit with him being worth £24m on our books (£40m - (2x8m))

So we’d be boosting this year’s books by £16m

Yeah, the obsession with transfer profit is unnecessary. If we can get someone willing to take 4th spot who has a bag of upside potential as well, if you have to pay a lil over, you pay over. The right guy is more important than a cheaper guy. if you can find someone who fits both great.

The guy is about the same size as Bernardo Silva, why would you want to get him as a CB?
