Wanna suck ?

One suck, por favor.

The person reporting it seemingly has very little track record with City transfers?

For that reason alone, let's hope it is just a flyer.

City had a serious interest in Mason Holgate at Everton 18 months ago, but not sure if he has kicked on or we would go back.
Nail on head. We're all guilty of getting sucked into heated debates about players initially linked with City by halfwit amateurs running what are little more than personal blogs. In this age of electronic media, before you know it, the story's been picked up by some of the more reputable sites and is being quoted as legitimate. The days when football journos actually checked their sources before publishing appear to be long gone.

You didn't need to check, they had a contacts book and spoke directly to the people involved.

How does he rate at defending ?

@Blue tiger was right that he's terrible in the air, that's a really glaring weakness in his game.

Other than that I would say he's got a lot of potential but isn't the finished article yet and that's probably why no one has taken him yet at €60m. His speed is a major asset, he's pretty big, so he's very useful in a high line.

I think all his issues really come down to one thing - being a bit passive in defence. That's why he's bad in the air and I've definitely seen a few problems caused by him preferring to drop off rather than go and make a tackle.

On the ball he's amazing, He's got the creative long passing we don't have at CB (except Laporte trying to hit that diagonoal 10x a match) and if no one is marking him, he'll just take the ball 40 yards up the pitch until a defender has to come and deal with him and leave someone else unmarked.

I would not be surprised if our coaching staff looked at him and thought that because we're talking about a 4th good CB, they could take a few months to a season polishing him whereas other CL contending clubs think he's not quite ready to go in as the #1 CB. How hard is it to teach someone to be better in the air when they have all the physical tools?

My approach to transfers these days is that Pep and the club very rarely make mistakes. With the release clause this one has always seemed like a City transfer, and he's definitely got enough positives about him to see why we might be interested. If we go for him I'm sure he'll be good.

Also we've been credibly linked to him for 3 years at least, so they've seen a lot of him.
