Just because we need a squad not just a team. Id much rather have the option of bringing on scharner than gelson, and i would also hate wasting 10-15mil on a squad player, therefore, scharner is perfect IMO.

Well Scharner's not exactly shit. I think some people expect too much in the transfer window.

I don't think he's too bad to be honest, and while I don't think we should be going in for him, you could do worse for squad depth. All the big clubs have players that you scratch your head and wonder why they are there. I do believe there are rumours around Scharner that Hamburg or Schalke or someone like that are interested in him?
