We used to stand in windy corner next to a kid from Stretford, who loved Simpson that much his own nickname actually became Simmo on a match day.

When he was sold to Oxford he was never seen again. I always imagined he either moved to Oxford and became a fan of them, or he died of a broken heart.

He was certainly seen again at the Manor Ground the following April when he bundled in Oxford's second goal in front of the traveling blues army !!
