Paul Wilson (Guardian) on that penalty decision

Not even open for comments that piece. Wouldn't mind so much if he had the balls to take the flak. But he's just a primary school bully, who runs to shelter behind Mummy's skirt.
Does he not have a Twitter account ? You could offer him your opinion

Genuine question, but do we ever get any positive press from any of the tabloids/journalists? I don't really read the papers anymore but I do read the links that some posters put up on here and it seems that the only guy who says positive things about us is martin samuel? I've read a few of his pieces and he seems the only person who can see our "plan".
Are the rest really just united and Liverpool lovers?

Even MailOnline doesn't make money. The only ones that do are behind paywalls. And if the Guardian is bad the Mail is ten times worse.

Except you missed out the part where The Mail sell over 2 million across the actual counter, whereas, the Guardian's biggest outlet in the entire UK, believe it or not, is 300 copies a day out of the Owens Park newsagents in Fallowfield.

True fact!

The Mail online also make millions from their photo syndication and are pretty much the biggest in the world.

I thought it was the newsagents on Beech Road which sold the most Guardians all those smug sanctimonious middle class lefties

Whatever your thoughts editorially it's fair to say Mail Online - certainly the app - is an unmitigated success for them. They've got it absolutely nailed.

hey careful, I'm a smug sanctimonious middle class leftie. If you don't watch yourself I might go all change.org on your ass... Either that or calmly explain how I'm correct in most of my opinions & respect your differences!

Cant remember this total and utter **** arguing the point about Sterling's none penalty decision in the previous game of the afore mention Everton semi final. Fucking horrible twat!! When are City going to start digging these pricks out in press conferences? As much I despise bacon face, he always had a welcoming party for sly shitty journalists who said anything ever so slightly negative about that lot!! Mr nice but useless Pelligrini is never going to do such a act.. But Pep.. Let's hope so hey.
we are far too accommodating to cunts. why we tolerate them is beyond me. apparently we have to give them access to report/commentate on the game as part of the whole money coming in thing. ok so lets ban the individual from an organisation not the actual organiation, make them send a stand in. when he chats shit, I don't mean the truth if we are shit they must say so, i mean the bile and hatred that we seem to now get on a daily basis, lets ban that **** too. they will soon get the message when they are send an office boy to do a main piece. we are simply too nice. off and ON the pitch.

The media are treated so well at the Etihad, it is unreal.

So why do a lot of these so call "journalists" spout such bile about us?

IMO professional standards have dropped so far in journalism over the last 30 years, due to a mixture of factors, the collapse of the regional news agencies, lack of fact checking due to under staffing, lower budgets, sensationalist reporting, click bait led online content etc... For a brief time back in my youth I wanted to be a journalist & at the time it seemed such a difficult game to get into. Now it seems you can be classed as one after a few successful click bait driven articles, simply stated our modern day journalists are little more than either a) opinionated blokes in the pub spouting their thoughts as fact or b) toeing an internal agenda of their respective rag to write stuff to fit the required story.

Oh and btw PWIAC

And while I'm at it JJIAC

I think it's a bit naive when people say we should just ban journalists who write anything negative about us. The amount of negative press we'd get for doing that would increase tenfold.

You only need to look at the coverage the likes of Newcastle and Swindon got for doing similar. We're far more high profile, so the shitstorm would be much worse.

You have to pick your battles carefully, which I think the club do. "Friendly" journalists, such as Simon Mullock and Martin Samuel, get the scoops and greater access to players etc, whilst the likes of Wilson, Jackson and Ogden don't.

Thing is Ric most if the bastards aren't interested in getting acres to scoops. They hate us for pushing their team's nose (big selection) out of joint.

I think we should take a harder line on some journos. Not just for writing negative stuff but for the constant, repetitive bile, and the over the top criticism.

Agree with giving reasonable journos preferential treatment but I'd also be having a go at the most unreasonable.

For example the paper that referred to Demichelis as Demwit on their back cover shouldnt have seen the inside of the stadium for a good while later unless they paid for a ticket.

This isn't due to under staffing, it's due to them being lazy cunts. I wouldn't mind but they have Google ffs.

I still think a harder line is needed. Some of the stuff on City is ridiculous.

I can see how the approach works in practice, however taking a professional approach with an unprofessional set of cockroaches isn't working. Not asking for the press to be our PR mouthpiece just some balance on how they report on City should be a start. Better access to those being fair is ok, but we need a stick as well as a carrot IMO
