Pavlik vs. Hopkins

I cant wait for this fight. For Hopkins this is 1 fight too many for a great champion. I was shocked when this fight was made as I thought Hopkins would have retired after the Calzaghe fight.

Hopkins will be hard to beat and if he is on top form may well get a win against Pavlik. In saying that I dont think Hopkins will win the fight as Pavlik is non stop all the time pressure boxing with some power. I dont think Hopkins will be able for a prolong attack from Pavlik who is going to put the final nail in Hopkins boxing coffin.

Hopefully if Kelly wins and Joe wins his fight with Roy Jones maybe a Calzaghe and Pavlik fight what a great fight to have for Joe for his last fight.

Hopkins has tried to bullshit his way thru his last few fights. Too much mileage on the clock. A classic case of, "An old hunter should not stalk a young lion."

Pavlik will more than likely win this cause Hopkins hasnt got the stamina to compeat any more, although he can still throw a punch like when he floored calzaghe in that last fight, so should be entertaining!

I can't ever see Calzaghe fighting Pavlik, Joe's only interested in two things, the big bucks and staying unbeaten. A fight with Pavlik doesn't guarantee the former and seriously threatens the latter. Calzaghe will stay well clear of him, in fact I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Roy Jones Jr fight was his last.

Matty I wouldn't rule out the fight just yet. The reason I am saying it because if Joe beats Roy Jones the Americans wont give him much credit. In his 2 US fights he has boxed in over there they will come back and try to say he proved nothing and is all hyped up beating 2 boxers pasted there sell by date.

So if Joe goes on and Kelly wins tonight for Joe to have any real creditablity in the US he has to fight Pavilik and win the fight to prove that he is as good as he is. Money talks in boxing but it will be easier for Joe to make this fight as he now promotes himself as far as I understand so making the fight will be stright forward.

Theres not a lot of other options out there for Joe to fight, Chad Dawson is the only other worthwhile fight for Joe in the US if Pavlik fight doesn't come off. I think Joe will fight 1 or 2 more fights before he hangs up the gloves. 1 more in the US and a farewell in Wales.

hopefully Hopkins dosent make a fool of himself like he did against Joe, with all that play acting, hopefully it will be a good fight! Dunno whether to stay up or watch it in the morning!

Its hard watching Hopkins live but put in the mix of Pavlik its a must see fight live for me. The last fight I tried to stay up to watch I fell asleep as soon as they were walking into the ring so hopefully that wont happen again.

Just finsihed watching a repeat on Setanta and Pavlik was very poor and got well and truely battered by Hopkins who was immense!

Maybe after watching this Calzaghe might be tempted to fight Pavlik!

That was shocking by Kelly Pavlik but top marks to B-Hop he put me in my place. The best prefromace from B-Hop in years he was a class above a poor Pavlik. A Calzaghe and Pavlik fight wont happen after that preformace. Pavlik to drop back down to his normal weight after that fight.
As for Hopkins maybe he has 1 more World title in him before he retires some of those combos were amazing from the OAP.

Had a tenner on it with each of my 4 mates. I went for B-Hop. I knew he would stop Pavlik from being effective....like he does to everyone (well almost). Hopkins knows way too much to ever get ko'd by a guy with no lateral movement or variety. I've hardly seen anyone land flush on him in his entire career, so there was no way Pavlik was going to land enough to bother him....unless he got really lucky. I was so happy watching the fight. It was even better than what he did to Tarver 18 months or so ago.

thats why i went for a hopkins win on points i cant understand why people keep underestimating him

I dont think people underestimate B-Hop everybody knows how good he had been over the years winning world titles. Its just that after his defeat to Calzaghe I thought we were seeing a finished Hopkins. For Hopkins at 43 to take on Pavlik I thought he was off his head and looking for troble. Age slows down fighters and so far this year some are looking like they are fighting 1 fight too many. Look at Sugar Shane Mosley in his last fight against Mayorga he didn't look like the slick Sugar of a year ago he look old in the ring. Yes he won the fight thanks to 2 knock downs in the last 40 seconds of the fight which he needed to win the fight. Now if I was Sugar I would retire after that lucky escape as for B-Hop it is only a matter of time.
