Have Intel got some new processors about to be launched ? If so that would push the price down of the one you're looking at so maybe worth waiting ?

Pretty sure the i9 is due in April.
Could be wrong, though.

So with cost and the amount of time I will play on my PC (which is less now) in mind, should I go for either Intel or AMD?
The CPU's I've chosen are:
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz - £162 (highest price i've seen is £175)
or
AMD (Piledriver) FX-8350 4.00GHz - £144 (maintained at this price)
I've read reviews on various websites and they're all raving on about the Intel i5-3570k which I have seen the graphs on toms hardware and obviously it beats the AMD hands down. Its just that extra 18 quid I'm saving can go towards my graphics card or 2 tins of baby milk :P
You can't go wrong with Intel.
Note: I'm not bullshitting you either using that graphics card in my old machine i struggled to play bf3 on 30 fps while using a pro gamers config file. Now i can get 120+ fps no problem in bf3 with the pro gamers config file (the config file optimizes for performance not graphics quality).
PMSL 120 fps can that nanosuit you wear help you see what the human eye can't?
Feed your baby and go with the i5.

You've all convince me to go Intel cheers guys! :-) I was eyeing up an i7 but I felt it was to expensive. Like I said time is also a premium so spending over 200 quid on a cpu I felt was to much.
Shame about AMD though, I remember they were beating Intel about 10 years ago with the atholons. What happened?

You need a really high frame rate in bf3 to render everything that's going on otherwise you get screen tearing and juttering. Anyway how much does it cost to feed a baby, Won't it still be on the tit or on formula ?

They sacked nearly all there chip designers and tried to use computers (full autocad) to design their chips.

My daughter is on formula costs a tenner a week lol
Major face palm for AMD there. HRH needs to get them designers back lol!
