On holiday recently at the pool bar in the evening there were small packets of peanuts in a bowl so naturally I helped myself to a packet as you do.
On my next visit to the bar the barman insisted I owed €3 the cheeky twat!
I explained to him it’s not how we do things in Blighty and it was the last penny he got off me.

If you’re an adult, would you know not to eat the peanut if you know you shouldn’t and it would give you an adverse reaction?
I have IBS and I have known for years I best not eat certain foods e.g. pickled onions, if I did, I’d be in pain for days. I haven’t eaten a pickled or raw onion for about 25 years.
Children, where the allergic reaction isn’t yet known, it’s another matter.

You can have anaphylactic reaction just by shaking hands with someone who as eaten peanuts and not washed their hands as my son found out not so long ago, luckily he carries a epi-pen with him all the time.

That's what I was thinking and that's why I was surprised to see peanuts at a buffet.
Can you get an anaphylactic reaction from touching a door handle that someone has touch after holding peanuts ?

We first found out about my sons allergy when he was about 8 he’s now 41, it was at my sisters birthday party in her house all he was doing was passing a bowl of peanuts to to the others there, not long after we noticed his face swelling luckily we managed to get him to Booth Hall hospital very quick,
I would say you could get a reaction to a door handle being touched by someone who as had peanuts.
