Pedro Porro

As someone who dislikes Nunes due to him being a liability. Porro is a carbon copy of him. We do need a RB but would rather sort out our midfield first.

I don’t see it with Porro, cant defend. Only one good thing is viana has got us some excellent deals so this only makes sense at between 30-40m for me and he comes in as second choice. If we sold lewis for 20-30 and spent 10-20 to upgrade to porro that works for me

we sold him for 8 and got 10m in a sell-on - worth considering/taking off any fee?

First thing I always do when we're seriously linked to a player is look at the forum of the team we're supposed to be buying them from.

Some quotes from the Pedro Porro thread on The Fighting Cock ever since we were linked to him...

Positive
"We should keep him. We start selling experienced players again and we are going to leave ourselves short."
"If we’re basically swapping Porro for Savinho so that Spence can ping in his one wasted cross per match then it’s a hard no from me."
"Getting rid of not one but two progressive passers for a manager who prioritises progressive passing isn't the best idea. There's a reason why City want him."
"We aren't selling him for more than £50m, and I don't trust us to upgrade on Porro. Big mistake on selling him."
"Porro is one of the few world class players we have and people want to sell him."
"The people who want to sell Porro are the same people who were happy that Levy sold Kyle Walker to City."
"His almost injury-free records with us is priceless considering how bad our injuries have been."
"I think De Zerbi's style suits him. He's been allowed to roam a bit and has really improved. I hope he stays unless we get a serious upgrade."
"I'd rather we keep Porro, unless his head's been fully turned and he is insistent on leaving."
"Porro has responded well to De Zerbi, he was starting to show some consistency."

Neutral
"I like Porro but for a good offer I would be open to sell."
"Seems a consistent Spanish international now. £60m odds and above would be sweet."
"We should only sell him if we have a player coming in that we are confident is better than him."
"I was just beginning to warm up to him again in last couple of weeks, and remember how good he can be."
"We've missed the chance to cash in on players before, if the offer is a good one (£50m+) then let's take the money."
"Porro's got some significant strengths but also has some significant weaknesses. He's a player that would be nice to keep if De Zerbi wants him, but we'd likely improve defensively if he did leave tbh."

Negative
"Get fucking rid. Been beyond useless."
"If they want to give us 50 million for a bloke bollocking young players for applauding the fans take the money and run."
"Holy shit, I'll drive him to the airport and pitch in some funds myself."
"People tends to forget how bad he could really be. I'm sick of his overhit passes, crosses and corners. And I'm not even talking about his poor defending yet."

Good post. From what I gather, Porro's form improved significantly under De Zerbi, and it also appears that Spurs have been keen on extending his contract this summer; at least that was the discussion before news of our interest. Whether that renewal was because they actually value him or simply because they want to sell him for more, who knows?

he ain't coming as second choice, we need to accept Nunes is a midfielder and most likely being moved back there or relegated to the bench in favour of an actual RB/RWB

Pedro Porro compared to Nunes we'd be getting the complete opposite of what Nunes is

Nunes was literally the right back in Opta's team of the season. So statistically the best right back in the league last season. I know stats aren't everything, but Porro isn't an upgrade, and anyone who is will be a lot more than 50 million.

Don't want anybody that doesn't improve the squad, Porro doesn't improve Nunes but does improve Lewis, at a cost of 20-25m after the Lewis sale with good EPL experience.
