Pedro Porro

Those that say he isn't better than Nunes - Who is? He's been exceptional. But this adds squad depth and we might even see Nunes get a shot at playing in the middle again. So not just depth but versatility by adding him.

he ain't coming as second choice, we need to accept Nunes is a midfielder and most likely being moved back there or relegated to the bench in favour of an actual RB/RWB
Do we need to accept he is a midfielder or do others need to accept he is a right back? On the basis he has been playing right back exclusively for the last 18 months, excelling there to the point where he has been the best in the league in that position, became an automatic pick for Pep and made a strong Portugal squad for the world cup as a right back, i'd very strongly suggest it was the latter.

Porro for his whole first season will be compared to Walker if he signs. Both £50m and signed from Spurs. The thing is Walker if he were buying him now from Spurs would cost about £80m.
Not by me. Different players and different times. Walker proved a ‘steal’.
If Porro and Savinho end up nodding to each other on the motorway as they switch clubs this summer, I’d hazard that’s where any comparisons will be made next season.

Can't see this as we have already had the chance and passed!! That said I've been told we are after 4 players.

Anderson
Enzo fernadez
Porro
Diomande

I don't know the guy who told a friend of mine so couldn't say if he'd ever called transfers right before just something he heard from within the club (apparently )!!!

Squawka have him as the third best performing right back for the season across all the metrics they measure. Nunes is 8th.
That ranking system is just a load of bullshit. The way they have rated players means they're judged on a specific criteria that they've decided makes the best player.

A prime Kyle walker, inarguably the best fullback in the league would rank poorly in that system because his role was too specific to satisfy enough of their stats to rank him highly. He had a strictly defensive role for the main so that eliminates half the opportunities to score points in that system. Nunes had pretty much the same role as Walker, with his pace offering security in the backline and O'Reilly being the one to push on and that system penalises defensive role.

Personally cant see is going for 3 players that will all cost around 100m each.

That said replacing Pep was always going to come with massive investment.

Doesn't matter what I think, you think or what Pep thought or what has happened, the next manager may not see it that way.

You stated it's likely he'll be moved or relegated to backup, that's purely based on your own opinions of him. When the greatest manager ever has him right back for 18 months, declining the opportunity to bring somebody else in and sees him excel and be the best in the league, why would anybody else come in and change that? So yes he may not see it the same, but he might, and there's far more reason to believe he would than wouldn't.

Have to say he was not on my radar but I don't feel like it would be a bad choice at all. We absolutely need another right back option and one that allows us to play the same way if Nunes is unavailable. Most of our big losses earlier this year (united, bodo, madrid) came when Nunes wasn't playing.

Porro feels very similar to Nunes and will provide genuine competition for the spot, which is always good. Defensively question marks but not sure there's any options that wouldn't either.

Also, see a lot of people suggesting Nunes should/will be moving back into midfield. I don't get that. He's progressed amazingly at right back this last season and a half but I've seen nothing to suggest he's all of a sudden got the awareness, intelligence and consistency under pressure to play midfield to the level we're aspiring for

Agree with this. He'd be a huge upgrade on Lewis and the healthy competition between Porro and Nunes should bring out the best performances in both players. Factor in that we'd effectively be swapping him for Savinho, allowing us to then upgrade in the wing position as well it's a bit of a no brainer really.

I am stating nothing, but if we are buying a RB for 50Mwho is first choice at his club, I cannot see it is to sit on the bench.

I refer my last post, I have no idea if he comes and if he plays and really my opinion doesn't matter, and I am not for or against him coming or Nunes changing roles.
