Pedro

Id go third behind villa to be honest, but he does have an incredible finish on him.
I have been having a good look at pedro (just to make sure im not off on some sort of tangent) and im more convinced hes right for us after watching plenty of him, this season he has been 'off the boil' so to speak due to injuries, but adding to what i have already put on him- he is a very industrious player often tracking back (a bluemoon must! ;) ) often doubling up with the wing back he is playing infront of adding an extra player to the defence, there has been a game i watched (cant remember what team against) where pedro received the ball in barca's defensive third on the left, distributed it to one of xavi or busquets, carried on his run, found himself on the right and bagged himself a goal, he seems to be able to run forever! His positioning is pure genius, often finding himself in silly amounts of space and usually getting tap ins from parried balls, or just monopolising on mistakes by the opposition keeper or defenders. It is very hard to watch him and find any faults to be honest, i think he is very underrated in the footballing world with the obvious usually taking the limelight, but even this doesnt seem to affect him as he comes across as a very reserved sort of character and is in the game to just play football.

Limited, onedimensional player that would never make a big name in football if he wasn't lucky to be picked by Barcelona in young age.

Chicharito alike.. loads of better players playing on their positions in smaller clubs, some very lucky guys
What!

I think we can all agree on the fact that we need a winger with bags of pace etc to bring something we have been lacking and theres plenty of names being mentioned, Lavezzi, Hazard, Robben, Ribery, etc, etc....
Ive given this some serious thought and he is potentially the best option out there in terms of age, fee required and quality combined. Im not so naive to think that hes going to be easy to pry away from barca by any means, but with sanchez' arrival, villa being deployed out wide, adriano and Affelay (when he returns from injury) fighting for a place and players such as Tello breaking through all for two positions it seems they have it covered if they were to loose a player. He has already fallen down the pecking order with sanchez arriving.
He has everything we require, speed, skill, drive to get forward, crosssing (a rarity in barca's game but whenever i have seen him cross its always got to its target), he doesnt have a weak foot (for years i always thought he was left footed and after doing some research it turns out he is naturally right footed and just has two equally telented feet), he can strike and finish a ball and has a very good eye for a pass.
Estimated transfer fee- between £25 and 30 million i reckon.
I have overlooked him so many times, and (now regretably) even commented about us buying elia, i maintain elia is a quality player who just needs to establish himself but he and pedro are a million miles apart.
What do you guys reckon? Is pedro the missing link?

OK, I'll bite. I don't think we need that. We do not play that way, because we prefer to dominate the middle of the field and spread our play using the flanks, usually with our full backs. An out and out winger means that for the other 90% of the game, when we are not trying to attack down the flank and get in a cross, we have a passenger.

I think the way we have used Nasri, Balotelli, Milner, Silva at times, is to have them be ABLE to play wide, but not to have a specialist that is ONLY really one-dimensional.

This would be a great signing!

Pedro left, Tevez centre, Silva right behind Aguero? Wow. With Nasri, Balotelli and Dzeko on the bench? The options there are scary. We'd have everything.

I think this transfer is a possibility. Barcelona are blessed with a lot of wingers; Villa, Iniesta, Sanchez, Cuenca and Tello can all play there. To me, Pedro was like Guardiola's pet project, he brought him from nothing to a Champion's League and World Cup winner in a year. No way would Guardiola sell him, but will the new coach? Maybe.

I think we need an attacker with plenty of pace. Our problem was at times being able to get behind a defence or to turn a defence.

When gary Neville decided to do Fergie a favour and highlight the fact that we can be nullified by defenders letting our full backs have it and camping on the edge of their box, it stopped Silva and Nasri as teams tried it and it congested their space to pick through balls. Our only answer to this was for yaya to barge through.

We need some attacking pace as we can be ponderous in our build up play, this allows the opposition to get back to the edge of their box and set up camp.
This is why someone like Sanchez would be perfect for us. Not only does he have quality when he gets behind them, he also has the pace to turn them as they are trying to get back in position. This creates space for Nasri and Silva etc.
So wingers specifically we don't really need. A pacy attacker who is direct but has good technical ability is what we are crying out for

Whos sanchez

I mean Alexis Sanchez mate. I was just using him as the type of player who I think could really make a difference to our play.

We are a very good team and I would be happy with our current squad but my reply was in response to the lads who said we need wingers and the one who said we don't.

I don't think we need anything but a Sanchez type player would imo improve us

Underestimating Pedro's qualities and ability for me here, he doesn't just use his pace to get past a man and whip a ball in. Because of his pace, he can get into positions off the ball that most of our other players can't, he has an eye for a pass, he is a very good dribbler and can play on either flank becuase he has two excellent feet, and is an outstanding finisher. Then there are his capabilities as a winger, those underlined above, which I think could prove vital next season (should a move happen).

No I don't wind anyone up. Regardless of it being a United forum, on the whole it is a good place to have a discussion about football. Just like on here you get the obsessives who only see through blue tinted glasses, but because of the large number of fans from other clubs and the different people from round the world, you can get a more balanced view of football in general and take on board different opinions.

It has been good as well to correct some of them when they have been talking utter shite about us.

Theres a lad who posts in the newbies bit. Think he is called m18ctid or something like that on both. I have not spoke to him for a while as I have not really had time to go on either forum. But he knows his stuff, he is far more knowledgeable about football than me. I seem to be a bit more placid though so I tend to keep the peace although I get abuse of some rags.
