Pellegrini confirmed

He seems to be a universally respected and liked coach, which is no mean feat. The Sun have gone with him being under pressure already with having to win the title in his first season, but that's par for the course.

his record frankly speaks for itself

He's here now and people like me need to get over mancini and get behind him but what is this record people like you allude to? Just to remind you he's won one trophy in europe, that was 10 years ago and it was the intertoto cup.

He may turn out to be a great manager, he certainly seems like a classy guy but it's understandable the press are asking what's this guy actually won when some city fans are asking the same.

yeah but funny how the media cunts don't preface their coverage of Gollum with the same snide "what's he won" remarks though.

Perhaps we need need another Alan Ball - at least he had medals he could put on the table eh?

Mancini will be a hard act to follow , he actually put trophies on the table .....

Pellegrini has an admirable reputation , and appears well liked , but the owners have left him in no doubt what's required , and it won't be easy .......

Mourinho says he's not expecting to win the title next year , but those words could have been be put out by him merely to fire his team up ... the rags will have absolutely no intention of reliquishing the title , even with a new manager ...... and Arsenal should prove to be more of a threat that they were last season , as should Spurs.

I think its fair to say medals won as a player mean fuck all in management.

The press would be treating the rag situation differently had they sacked ferguson and installed gollum but as it appears he was fergusons choice for manager they are still a bit scared of upsetting the senile old twat, old habits die hard I guess.

What will be interesting though is their reaction when gollum goes through a rough patch, I can't wait to see gollum under some real pressure!

Why do people keep saying he's won nothing? He won the Argentine league twice with two clubs, and that is one of the top 10 leagues in world football. Not only that but it's a hugely competitive league and he managed River Plate who are a huge club who can get nearly 70,000 for some games. Some people act like football doesn't exist anywhere else in the world but the Brazilian and Argentinian leagues are big.

I think that one of the things that make United a good team was the winner mentality given by Fergusson, off course they have a few great players like RVP or WR, but most of their squad are very qualified middle class players, as we say here, 1 or 2 chiefs and a lot of indians. The clue is if Moyes can keep that mentality into them. and that´sis why I always mention that Barry or Milner would be important for Pellegrini, because City have a lot of talent, but will need a couple of player to sacrifice themself for their teammates at the field.

By the way, be prepare for an invasion of chilean journalist there, and a lot of other chileans here, at least from the ones who can speak english without google translator.
I just read today in Chilean newspapers that Liverpool tried him 3 years ago without success also that Pellegrini always wish to coach in premier League, according to the journalist this was part of Pellegrini master plan.

(i tried just to catch the photo, but I couldn´t)

in this link you will find and image of Pellegrini with one of his mentors, as most of you should know by now, Pellegrini studied to be a coach in England.

Argentina existed for a little short of 11 weeks in 1982, that's it.

Yeah , i take your point , but the fact is that most of South Americas major stars tend to play in Europe (or want to) , and it's there where players , or managers , are REALLY judged .....

the bottom line is that Pellegrini now has to follow , and hopefully improve on , the managerial record of Mancini in this country , which has been pretty good ...... he can change the style of play all he wants , but at the end of the day if he fails to win trophies then , make no mistake about it , he'll go exactly the same way as the guy who DID win a few trophies !

in Argentina he won 3 titles, with San Lorenzo he won 1 local championship and Copa Mercosur (similar to current UEFA cup) and 1 local championship with River Plate and lost the final of Mercosur Cup against Cienciano of Peru at 2850 mts over the sea (with 2 of they key players injured).

thats half-true, I don´t say that you are lying but the current situations is not the same as those years. When Pellegrini coached in argentina they were able to keep their best players a bit longer and didn´t sales them so easily. The level of southamerican competitions and Argentinian League in those years were quite higher than now
