Awesome. I'm easily impressed

TBF most on the Posters are pretty clued up about Pellegrini. Obviously there are one or two Divs, as they usually put it, when somebody else is posting nonsense about United.

Overall they seem apprehensive about Pellegrini and what he will achieve at City. :-)

JoJoJo(is that Jo?), Red Cafe.

Why did Madrid sack him? The press didn't want him because he was boring. He lost a Copa del Rey tie 4-0 to a third level team because ex-stars like Raul and Guti didn't see themselves as Copa squad players, and the press killed him. Going out - again - in the first KO round of the CL just put the final nail in the coffin.

Even without those two bad cup results, I still reckon the press would have destroyed him. Throw in the fact that Mourinho had just stopped Barcelona from reaching a CL final at the Bernabeu and the attraction of a shiny new toy to make the crowd forget another trophyless season - there was no way he could survive.

On the other side, Ronaldo was injured for two months, Pepe was out for 5. Sneidjer and Robben were sold, against his wishes, and he still got within biting distance of Barcelona in La Liga.

He's an astute judge of players, and of identifying and developing young talent and if City are serious about their "project" and at least want to make a nod to moving to FFP compliance he's a very good bet.

So what's your point?

Not a point as such merely an observation that quoting trophies won over a decade ago in an average league is not a very good answer when people are asking what he's won. The fact is he's won nothing in 10 years of managing in Europe so if people are expecting him win 5 trophies in 5 years (or whatever his remit is) its asking a bit much. If he leaves here in a few years with the same trophy count as Mancini I'd be more than happy (and surprised).

It's not asking too much at all. The only European club so far at which he could reasonably have been expected to deliver trophies was Real Madrid and analysis of his season there has been done to death. The simple fact though is that he won 31 out of 38 league games at Madrid and if he repeats that trick at City, I imagine that we will all be ecstatic.

Lots of people will inevitably have some doubts about him until he wins a trophy but there's no great reason to think he cannot win trophies at City. Look how long Heynckes went without winning a major trophy.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how many trophies a manager has or hasn't won, the teams they inherit/buy/bring to the club are different in all cases. If either Pellegrini or whatsisname at the quiet neighbours were playing with exactly the same players they had last season then neither or them or both of them could win trophies. As it is they are both bedding into a new environment with many players they have not known before and therefore arguments/discussions mean nothing.

Let's just wait and see, I have no time for that other person and will give support to Mr Pellegrini because he is Manchester City manager.

ONWARD AND UPWARD WITH MANCHESTER CITY.

worth mentioning, at some point neither Ferguson, Guardiola and Mourninho had one a trophy either and they we`re all risks when hired at a big club
