Pellegrini in talks with Everton

To be fair, this could spin either way for them if they get him. No doubt we've regressed under him in the past year or so but I wouldn't lay the blame for that totally at his feet, although as manager he needs to shoulder a fair chunk of the responsibility. However, it seems to be forgotten in some quarters just how entertaining we were in his first season, plus he did a great job at both Villarreal and Malaga on much lesser resources. At Villarreal in particular he got them to a whisker of the 2006 Champions League final and finished runner-up to Real Madrid in La Liga in 2008, 10 points ahead of Barcelona in 3rd.

If Bobby ever came back to England to manage someone else, it would bother me. Doesn't matter to me where Pellers rocks up, though. Wish him luck, though.

Can't help feeling it's out of the frying pan and into the fire as far as Everton are concerned. Seem to be a lot of similarities between him and Martinez.

I assume we are talking in a footballing aspect here and not personality, because Martinez is very much a ****. Pelligrini certainly isn't.

I agree with the majority. It's a bad call from both perspectives.

Not the manager Everton need.

He's worked on a budget before. That final season with Malaga losing some top players after the investment was pulled certainly wasn't easy.

He's never been a defensive coach though. His teams have always been likely to concede goals and that will be an issue for him moving forward

Not surprised, called it that he'd be at the kiddies table next.

Hopefully he can convince their new owner to spunk another wedge on Mangala and co.

Hopefully he will go there and turn them from a bogey team into a nice pleasant opponent. This will inevitably happen when he removes all intensity from their game, like he did with us in the space of 1 season :-)

His days on the top table are gone. He had an opportunity here. It's quite telling that the Everton fans are putting him around 3rd 4th choice as their new manager.

Not our bogey team any more. That's why Martinez has gone. Everton were a different prospect under Moyes. Like us, they have a soft underbelly now. Their next appointment needs to be right

Can't believe they'd be stupid enough to appoint him, but if they do good luck to them - they'll need it.
