People Leaving STILL

About thirty years ago my dad and I got a lift to the ground with a dentist called Bob Thompson. We were going to watch City play Notts County in the League Cup. For some reason, he wanted to show us the christmas lights at his surgery, so we took a detour whilst he went into the surgery to show us his christmas lights. Which made us late for the game. Happy days.

Then with the score at 3-1 to us with about 7 or 8 minuttes to go, Bob decides to leave early to 'beat the traffic'. Needless to say, we scored twice more after we had left, including Dennis Tueart scoring his hattrick goal. So I missed a hattrick from one of my all time idols. Thanks, Bob.

Anyway, from that day I have had a pathological loathing of leaving early. I have no doubt whatsoever it relates back to that day. And staying to the end has brought ups and downs = Fulham at home a few years ago, the ginger twat's header 3 seasons ago, Spurs and Sudnerland at home this season.

Would I have stayed to the end anyway? I hope so. But I will never leave a City game early, and Bob Thompson is the reason for it, and that is why I saw Kun Aguero score the goal which won the league. So if you are a retired Dentist called Bob, thanks mate - I've loathed you for thirty years, but now I find myself owing you a beer.

My dentist is called Mr Thompson, he once left halfway through doing a filling!

Kidding, I have no fillings.

Years ago I had a dentist on King Street called Mr Payne.

I shit you not.

I bet those that left early feel like right tits. My little brother next to me was in tears around the 88th minute mark saying "i cant take this please lets go".... Got him to man up and witness the greatest thing in our lifes! As soon as the final whistle went we just ran straight on the pitch... Undescribable feeling!

I guess its just the emotions that cause you to leave! People take it in different ways!

Some of the people that left will have been some of the biggest blues you will ever meet but just simply couldnt take in the fact we were going to lose a game which would have cost us the title to bacon face

I put everything in life down to an educational experience, and after the sheer hilarity of watching Pearce miss that spot kick in 01(?), and Fowler miss that spot kick in 04(?), I was happy to be further educated in what it feels like to stand in solidarity with 40,000 despondent but humble blues to watch your team finish second in the league despite being the best team for 90% of it.

BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!!!

I did leave my seat as the twats around me were pissing me off but I only walked up to the concourse and watched from there - was interesting to celebrate with some new fans, stewards alike.

-- Mon May 14, 2012 1:34 pm --

I agree, it gets to be people in different ways. The thought of the QPR fans goading us just led me to walk up the aisle at 90 minutes - is it me or did the time between their 2nd goal and the board going up for extra time seem like a minute. I felt so gutted that time was slipping away.

I know a guy that left at 87 minutes, in tears ! He was driving away and had saw another car pull over and start cheering. He then turned the radio on and heard it for himself. He managed to get back too the ground and back in as the team were re-entering the pitch for the trophy presentation.
