People who talk about work on a night out/day off

Me too - 40 odd years in financial services and it turns out my real talent was in pottering about all day - imagine that.
People say " don't you get bored ?" - do I fuckers like lol
To be honest I should have done it earlier but was told the place where I worked was shutting down in 2 years so I stuck it out and got my redundancy.

I used to get clients who would invite me out for a drink and then they would want to talk about their business all night.
They were just after free advice.
One of them had a pub and me and the Mrs used to go in his pub to support him.
Guaranteed within 5 minutes he would start talking shop so we had to stop going in.
Shame really because it was one of our locals before he became a client and his beer was good

Fair fucks to you mate - I did that once when I had some years in with an employer - they were looking for people to leave so I went took the £50k sweetener and paid off my mortgage and never looked back. Went off and did other jobs and freelanced then when I hit 60 took the pensions I could. We could be the last generation able to do all this sadly.

As someone who’s worked shift work all their life, what you tend to find is the longer someone has worked in the industry, the more likely it is that a lot of their friends have started as work colleagues and gone on to become out of work friends. Conversely, the more likely you are to drift apart from friends that are Monday to Friday 9-5ers.

When your working week finishes at 10 pm on a Tuesday and your day off is Wednesday, you’ll generally only find co- workers who are up for going for a good drink at that time. And your out of work friends big Friday night out isn’t quite so appealing when your back in work at 6 am Saturday.

So when you’ve got a bunch of people working together out on the piss, it’s only natural that work topics will get talked about more than if you all worked in completely different industries.

Doesn’t mean you don’t get boring bastards who won’t shut up about stupid trivial things work related. But they’d be boring bastards whatever they were talking about.

I was a continence care nurse for many years. I definitely could tell a few stories after work and always got asked , I kid you not. But a night out is for fun and not talking crap.
