Sir Bobby Robson filled a room with pride when he walked in. I was almost moved to tears when I met him. Had a picture with him, and just as the picture was about to be taken, he basically barged closer to me to make the picture better. Little move, big man.
I also remember once being sat in the reception of the Riverside Stadium when City played there. I was sat there facing away from the door, the door behind me opened, and I could all the Middlesbrough reception staff, security suddenly light up and stand upright. A smile beamed across all their faces and I wondered who had just walked in.
It was Sir Bobby. He was manager of Newcastle at the time and all the staff greeted him like he was an old mate "Hiya Bobby, how ya doin?". As I looked at him he just grinned and said "ahhreet son".
And Bert Trautmann. Wow. He has an almost saintly presence about him. Met him a few times, and I've been overawed completely by him.
