Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

Thing is Pep Thursday 8pm is for us £140 tickets, two days holiday, a premier inn and travel costs.

All this to watch a training game of attack v defence.

Its Citys fault that teams wont play football against us because we are to good.

But football is entertaining the public, our opponents dont want to entertain.

Always the deflection. Day trippers, boring football, worse at other grounds. ‘I pay good money’ brigade. ‘Players should give us something to shout about’. Older fan base.

We are watching the best team in our history and not supporting them.

We are not getting lazy, our support has always been lazy. It’s just harder to accept now when we actually win something.

Bit of an over reaction to a few boos. We were poor that first half again and then conceding two goals like that right at the end i think just caused frustration rather than people booing the team as such. Pep is more than in his right to dig out the fans if we aren't making much noise, but at the same time don't complain if the fans dig out the players for another lack luster performance.

Doesn't mean it's ok for him to call us out,he won't be here forever, but we fucking will be
People are too insecure and precious. He didn’t ‘call us out’ he wants us his team back and the fans back. He’s right. Yes the two go together and it’s a bit chicken and egg. Yes We’ll be here after him, one day and we’ll be looking back longingly on these days and team wishing we could go back.

Unfortunately our success has brought the jonny come latelys and the daytrippers.

I couldn't believe the shot of the crowd after our 3rd, they was stood there clapping, fucking clapping! I was going mental when it went in, it panned to the stand where the players was celebrating, just fans clapping politely.

It's just something we're going to have to get used to, success brings great things but also it dilutes the crowd who seem to just expect us to win.

I've said it many times, when we was shite the atmosphere was better because we had to get behind the team as they needed us.

Maybe pep if your obsession of controlling the game and playing a tactic where our front three hardly ever sees the ball and our most creative players aren’t too scared to lose possession and our back four know they aren’t going to be rotated each game maybe just maybe we would have more to shout about

Ask Pep how many corporate areas, bars, restaurants, padded seats, £60-£80 match tickets there are across the Etihad on a normal match day. Ask him how many local and young City fans there are who have been priced out of the Etihad and been replaced by tourists and day trippers. Ask him if he thinks all of those things and more have had a lasting impact on the declining atmosphere inside the Etihad. And if he’s honest he’ll say yes it has.
Don't other clubs have a similar mix of corporate and exclusively priced seats (with all the attendant benefits) as a % of their stadium seats as us ? Yet the atmosphere at the Etihad is one of the quietest around. Pep is right to question the home support.
