Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

So according to these, Liverpool went from having the loudest fans in the league to almost the quietest in two seasons?

The point of these "studies" is to promote whatever company has commissioned them. They're not meant to be taken seriously.
Totally agree. The noise from our home fans has been off-scale this season - eardrum-bursting. Pep totally wrong to fault them. And Pep praising our away fans as boisterous - noisy - and really great - another bullshit story. What the fuck Pep!

LOL!

Dude! - our home fans have been shit - obviously so - and Pep has every right to call them out. Meanwhile our away fans often drown out the opponent's home fans - and have been fucking awesome every match I've watched.

How loud a crowd might appear to someone watching on TV across a pond is almost entirely down to where the microphones are positioned and how loud they’re turned up.

Just so. But Pep agrees and so does my viewing experience - game after game after game. So it's not down to just microphone placement IMO. Unless microphones are placed next to City fans for away games and not randomly throughout the stadium - and simultaneously away fans are very close to Pep - possible - but I'd guess unlikely.

It's so unbalanced that I often have to double-check... goddamn the crowd is 100% behind CIty - are we really playing away? - or - damn! - no noise for City - are we in the Etihad? I've - no kidding - had to check this on multiple occasions this season.

How many games have you been to this season?

Haha..oh you are serious

Personally I think the booing was exactly what pep and the team needed, and allowed pep the timing and the opportunity to kick the shit out of all involved

I can understand Pep’s comments but think all this public condemnation of fans and players is not good………..
We’ll only know if it’s not good if we get to the end of the season and it’s not worked

No - I think you're off base. Other home sides have been far more vocal.

Historically...

and lately...

That’s just a decibel count. Doesn’t show what games they were recorded in, where in each stadium they were recorded from, what moment in each game the readings were taken and has sod all to do with anyone being ‘far more vocal’.

I think it is very clever from Pep, personally.

He is choosing a moment where it seems like we have got the passion back (team and supporters) to call out the fact that we haven’t actually. That more work needs to be done. He didn’t just call out the home fans, either—he took responsibility for needing to reignite the fire in the team and the supporters.

Personally, I think this is the exact right time to say these things. Because he wants everyone, especially the players, to know this can’t be the normal performance, because it isn’t sustainable.
Never. Doubt. Pep.

We’ve lost one game since he gave that infamous interview (to Spurs, who used up so much of their energy to win the “We Beat City This Season” Cup, they’ve only won 3 of the following 10 matches).

He knew what he was doing (along with sending Cancelo off to Bayern).

Getting rid of that mard arse was a master stroke

I genuinely think cutting out the negative influence of Cancelo and giving KDB a very public dig of needing to be simpler in his play have been the turning points.

Cancelo going has given Grealish room to breathe as well as bringing Ake in making us more stable at the back and allowing Jonny Stones to perfect the inverted full back role without any real pressure because there’s 3 CBs to fall back on if it goes wrong.

While getting KDB back to his best has meant having 4 CBs at the back as well as a 6 hasn’t been too much of an issue because it means the front 5 can be trusted with attacking and being effective. Haaland, Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Gundo, KDB, Bernardo and Alvarez are all contributing whenever they play whereas it was only really Haaland and Mahrez (Alvarez at a push) who were beforehand.

Brilliant management from Pep again, shows it’s not just about decision making on the pitch where a manager can make a massive difference.

Anyone still think Pep’s interview after the comeback win against Spurs was a bad idea?
