Pep BBC 5 live

In the team? KDB and Silva are obviously Pep's men on the field, team instructions get passed to KDB by Pep on the touchline.

But why would style of play change? Pep's been very clear he's not going to do that.
If we had been a little more pragmatic in the Utd and Liverpool games we might have seen a different outcome. Regardless of what he might have said in the past I think he will come to see that we sometimes need to see out passages if play when we are being constantly pressed or overrun. The fact that he shored up the defence in the second half when we were ahead against Spurs was very welcome and encouraging.

Pragmatism is approaching things in a success driven way. Which is exactly what Guardiola does and has done his entire career. He plays the way that is most successful, the way he thinks is most likely to win.

The Liverpool games were just a flashback to last season when half a dozen sides did the same thing to us. What was the answer, switching to a 442 big man small man, 10 men behind the ball? No, it was just being better.

You keep improving in the style and system that has broken dozens of records this season, and you run circles around Liverpool, just like we went from being murdered by Spurs' high intensity press last season to outplaying them home and away this year.

The best thing is we don't even need to improve the starting XI. We just need to make sure they don't get run into the ground over Christmas and arrive at the semi-finals knackered, and we just need for them to continue to improve in playing the way we have done.

I don't think you understand the word pragmatism.
