Pep Guardiola - 2019/20 Performances

If our players finished like Liverpools front 3 then we would be winning a 3rd title.

It's that simple. Forget Laporte, forget Kompany, forget Sané or VAR or shit referees.

We create so many chances in big games and we just dont put the ball in the net. And then the team gets desperate and nervous and we concede.

The question then is why? Why do they finish chances when it matters and we dont? If it was 1 or 2 then I would blame the players, but its 6 or 7 and it's been that way for 3 years. And dont try to tell me that Roberto fucking Firmino is a better finisher than Sergio Aguero. It's not luck, or fate or the pitch or the opposition or the ball.

So it's something to do with the manager. I dont know what, but something Pep is doing is making these players go to pieces in the box.

Maybe it's just because he keeps going on about it, maybe it started out as luck and now the players feel cursed or panic when the first one doesnt go in.

The sheer volume of chances we create means we’ll miss more. And nobody in premier league history is even coming close to this Liverpool side in terms of shot conversion, it’s damn near 40% this season. The next highest from 2010 onwards is 13/14 City with 22%. That LFC team is just abnormally good

this game needs to end. either he tells the club he is extending, if not we make the change. This shit really needs to end now.

Exactly. And really, it is THAT simple.

Option 1 (preferred): Pep signs an extension, announced sooner rather than later, and the club go big in summer for a CB (and promote Garcia and THB to the full time 1st team squad giving either or both plenty of league games before the end do the season to guage their suitability) as well as buying at least one blue chip striker and another reserve GK, or

Option 2) if won't extend, announce his leaving at the end of the season and go big for a top manager asap. Massimo Allegri?

Either way something has to change or we shall just have a rinse and repeat of this season , next season. A la Mancini and Pellers final seasons.

Fuck off
If he isn’t extending we should chant his name every game for a whole season and appreciate what he has done for us

I agree with both of you. We should definitely appreciate what a ride we have had to date which is fantastic. Beyond our wildest dreams. However, I do think if he is not going to extend then better to look at a change at the end of the season. Not fair on Pep or anyone to try and rebuild in a year, and for another manager to pick it up. Really hope he extends and takes us on further and break even more records.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking with BBC Match of the Day: “If I would find the solution I would try to work on that. It would be a mistake not to let them [the City players] feel incredible and fantastic after that game, football is sometimes like this.

“I have no regrets about the performance. We lost a football match. Football is about how many goals you score and how many you concede. Of course we had a lot of chances. At the end of the day you have to take it."

On the decision to let Ilkay Gundogan, not Sergio Aguero, take the penalty: “They decide."

Did it affect the way they played after that?: "No. If we score it would be better, maybe but in the second half we started well and created chances to score and didn’t do that. Until Oleksandr Zinchenko was sent off, the rest was OK.”

I hope they feel incredible and fantastic after that.

I used to think that the City fanbase were a special breed, was proud of how we reacted in the face of adversity.
That’s been slowly ebbed away over the last 7 months where many have shown that we are no better than the rest.
Pep leaving would be a huge backwards step for our club, no ifs or buts, huge.
I think if it became apparent to him that he’d lost the support of the fans it’d be the straw that broke the camels back and he’d be gone.
A crying shame.
He’s far from perfect, he makes errors and he’s far from blameless for the league form this season. That said he’s also far from being the biggest reason.
Careful what you wish for.

I highly doubt what he's saying to the BBC in any way reflects what actually got said in the changing room.
