He needs to have a long, hard look at himself and think about what it is he is trying to achieve. This side is fucking miles away from the 17/18 and 18/19 side.

We have gone from a side that was collectively brilliant, to a side that relies on individual moments of quality. We have replaced world-class/potentially world-class players with players not fit to lace their boots.

I am borderline bored watching us. We play football without any purpose. I have watched us go from arguably the most exciting wide two in world football in 17/18, to our wingers/wide forwards spending more time facing our own goal than the oppositions. It’s fucking criminal. Having watched Pep sides over the years, I cannot believe that a) he has overseen this and b) he is happy with the result. He clearly wanted more control of games after painful defeats in big CL games but in trying to achieve this, he has lost sight of everything that made us the best English side I have ever seen. I don’t recognise this team at all. We might still win the league and/or CL and we will celebrate like any other season, but nobody will convince me that as it stands we as a side are not going backwards. Maybe it was inevitable given the highs of 17/18 and 18/19 but this is becoming a painful watch.

Every time Pep talked about signing a new deal, he talked about watching the level and attitude of the players. Did they still want it? Did they still want to play for him? Watching us this season, I am almost amazed he signed a new deal. I wonder how low we would have had to have dropped, for him to say “that’s it”, because what I am watching this season is a side that is the worst Pep side I have ever seen, at City or anywhere else.

Walker as Cb in a 2 isn't an experiment?
Foden in midfield?
It's not. Stones has niggles, Akanji and Ake are starters for the derby. Walker is the only option then. KDB and Bernardo are starters, so Foden is the only option there(and according to a lot here, he is best as midfielder). So no experiments today, just the logical thing to do

We are champions.

Great post. Ironically those painful champs league defeats were usually after he’d pissed about with that exciting side anyway.

Remember those first time passes that would shred opponents? That Sane goal against Arsenal? The absolute pinnacle of football.
Now everyone has to take 4 touches before rolling to the guy standing 3 yards away.
Look at the front six to what it is now, night and day.

As the commentator said. Four goals in the first fifteen minutes this season.

I know we’re spoilt. I really do.

But Pep fucked that tonight. Either put it to bed early and wrap players in cotton wool or at least leave half a team in there. Doubt anyone got anything out of that tonight.

Second string looked garbage together, starters have just been used unnecessarily and to no end.

Missed the point entirely.
I didn't. You are talking about sides from 3 or 4 years ago when we have been, and are champions since then. No point missed. Whenever we drop points, we have the same response on here, usually involving Sane and Sterling, the latter who was lambasted on here many times, and the former who was wonderful for a period but didn't want to stay. Looking back is utterly pointless.

He said he would go when he feels the team isn't listening and they're clearly not. A lot of changes yes, Walker at CB clearly odd, but fuck me the players were disgraceful. No fight at all, getting beaten to every ball, 3 or 4 getting dribbled around without much effort from the saints players. Poor passing. Poor movement.

SOuthampton wanted that. Pep wants these fringe players to say "pick me". I would be binning off a lot of them for the foreseeable. Alvarez can have some grace. Palmer was poor again and needs benching. Phillips shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. Neither should Gomez or Cancelo.

Having his worst season since he joined the club IMO. Weird decisions, freezing impact players out. Constantly playing players out of position and just generally having mares twice a month. Is what it is, wouldn't be surprised if we're infallable next season.

It's not an unrealistic criticism. We have gone from having two wide options who regularly created and scored to Grealish who makes "extra passes". We have become totally anaemic.

I love Pep, he's the greatest coach ever but this season has been totally boring. The system is dull and all the onus is on KDB.

His systems and tactics aren't working. We look bereft of any ideas.
