Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

And yet, we're 2nd.

Not bad for a team completely shite and a manager who has no answers.
Yep and 2 of the 4 games we've lost we could and should have got more from them. Brighton we should have seen off before HT & Newcastle we were robbed of a clear penalty. Spurs was genuinely shit and Villa away wasn't that bad we were within inches of an Haaland equaliser. Our finishing is hurting us big time, in all 4 losses we created the most chances yet got fuck all we desperately need other players to chip in.

Could go further and look at the Arsenal away draw, we missed an absolute sitter to put the game to bed. Haaland squares to Foden for a tap in and game over.

Pep doesn't make us waste these chances.

2nd in the league.
In every cup competition.
Best manager in the world.
Loves the club.
Has had his own personal problems but has tried to keep going, when lesser mortals would have bailed out.
I count my blessings every day that he’s still here when it would have been so easy to walk away.
Short memories forget how he stood up for our club, and still does, when every man and their dog were taking aim at us.
I’ll back the man until his very last second at the club.

Even against Spurs, Marmoush had a chance to put us 1-0 up (35secs here):

Good save but should be scoring there.

We go 1-0 up and the game’s completely different.

If we are to keep him he needs to be helped out in the transfer market with top quality world class players. Not players on the cheap
The thing is, we had to buy so many players in a short space of time that they all had to be on a budget to a point.

We’ve lost Ederson, Walker, Akanji, Gündoğan, De Bruyne, Grealish, Alavarez, then a few squad players like Gomez and McAtee, as well looking at an understudy to Rodri and long term replacements for Stones and Ake… with replacements all being bought in just two transfer windows.

Buying prime for prime quality would probably have seen us spend over £600m in 2025 to replace those players. Instead we spent around £350m which is enough in itself.

In-part, It’s been the volume of players we’ve needed to buy that have stopped us spending top whack for individuals. Also, there’s a case of a fair few players we did want, not wanting to sign for us.

If we only needed to replace Ederson, De Bruyne and Alvarez in 2025, it would have been a didferent story.

Yes the last 13 years they've put profit before success, idiot.
Where did I say 13 years but they certainly have over the lay 3 years on and off the pitch total disregard for fans and have taken their eye off the ball with the first team squad

Only a treble and record breaking 4th premier league title in a row in the last three years.

Sack the lot

Ok well I mean since the treble or you could say since the summer before the treble write a list of the decent players that have left and a list of the players we have bought. Then look at how supporters have been treated since the summer after the treble

You speak for most of us.

Disregard , maybe for a spoilt child.
So you think their ticketing policy is fine then. That’s fair enough you’re in with the I’m all right Jack fuck the rest. I’m not a spoilt child I’m quite comfortable with my ticket situation but I can see how others are being treated and it’s totally unfair

I don’t think we have. It’s just one of those natural things in football that happens, where teams just have a dip in quality.

Building a good team/squad is mostly down to pure chance. Yes, money is important, but it’s the pure chance that a team needs players in positions where top players are available and those players want to sign for them at that very moment in time.

It’s nowhere near an exact science.

Sometimes you have a good run of that working out, by pure chance. Sometimes you don’t, by pure chance.

That’s why nobody before City had ever won four league titles in a row before. That’s why Wanderers and Royal Engineers aren’t still top football clubs, or why Aston Villa, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle have only won 5 league titles between them in the last century, despite winning 16 league titles between them from 1888-1925. It’s why Liverpool have only won 2 league titles in 34 years. It’s why United haven’t won one for 13 years (by next Summer). And why Chelsea have only averaged a title every five years since their takeover despite having the resources to have won many more.

It’s impossible to keep landing the standard of players you need in every position you need them at the very time you need them, ongoing. Impossible.

There are loads of reasons why the pure chance of it happening doesn’t happen: there being a dozen other top clubs in Europe, there are half a dozen other top clubs in the PL, the selling club don’t want to sell, the player doesn’t want the move, the player wants one of the other top clubs in Europe or the PL, needing to buy other players which reduces your available expenditure, there’s nobody of top standard in that position not already tied down to a top club or big/long contract, there’s nobody of top standard in that position full stop (look at the dearth in quality of strikers in world football at the moment, only four clubs have got a world class striker)…

I'm sure he would if he could, but he can't kick the ball for them. Highly payed professionals in their field need to do better IMO, hard to point at Pep for that second half against Leeds. Doesnt matter what the team is, our B team is better than at least 50% of the rest of the prem. Have a look in the mirror and pull your fucking tripe out.

We were talking about ,Pep, the team, and investment in players. Why you’ve completely changed the subject I have no idea. Maybe you’re just desperate to be angry about something, anything.
