Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Such a nonsense article. Here's the crux of it:

"They believe that it would be a logical time to leave because the squad is settled, Guardiola has won everything there is to win and ten years is one heck of a shift, particularly for a man whose longest spell with one team before arriving in the UK amounted to four years with Barcelona’s first team."

1. The squad isn't settled, it's quite literally at the beginning of a transition with loads of new, young players.
2. He'd already won everything there was to win in 2023 and didn't leave.
3. Ten years is a lot. So is 11 years. So was 8 years! Meaningless drivel.

Hirst even admits this:

"The same people have predicted Guardiola’s exit in the past though, only to see him extend his deal. It is an unpredictable game, anticipating his next move."

So what's the point? Absolutely pointless wishcasting from people desperate to see Pep off. They can see what he's building again.

"The same people have been wrong over and over again but I think they're right this time because they just beat Liverpool."

If we win the Treble again, Pep *might* decide to leave. But I doubt it.

Where would he go after that? Milan? Juventus? Can't see it.

He's building a great squad here that is likely to improve in the next few years and challenge for everything.

Agreed, I can see him staying for the rest of the decade.

This is story from a man whose editor told him he's got to write 10 articles this international break.

Would hardly call a team averaging 2 points a game with 2 away league wins to its name a “winning machine”.
That's because he's only just finished building it. whilst there were signs over the last six months, it's only the Brentford game with the new system where it clicked. We have 3 wins out out 3 since then.

Unless he gets sacked, no way he leaves in 2026. Ignoring the glaring fact that his contract actually ends in 2027...where would he go?

He's already hinted at not wanting to go to another club team so what? National team? Which one?

Nah. He'll be here until 2027 and I predict (just as Hirst is doing!) that he'll go beyond then too.

Don’t know when he’ll leave, but where he’d go isn’t any bearing on it, because he’s already said he won’t go anywhere. He’ll go when he feels he wants a break from it all.

As far as I can remember, Pep hasn't said he won't manage another club. It's a possibility if he leaves City in a year or two. Thus the question about his destination. And it seems that no other club can offer him better (non-financial) conditions than City. Therefore, if he wants to manage at club level for another 5 or 10 years, leaving City is not very likely. Unless City win everything this and/or next season and he decides he can't improve on that.
