Just wanted to see what everyone thinks when (usually foreign) managers refer to the rags as 'Manchester'. It really winds me up! They're not even in Manchester!!

Yes it bothers me aswell, i wonder how long it will be before our impact on European football will be sufficient enough for us to actually be recognised as THE Manchester team.

Lots of us probably refer to Real as 'Madrid'. I imagine that annoys the Atletico fans in much the same way.

at the end of the day Scum have dominated at home and in europe for a long time

When we start improving and getting into CL on a regular basis and do well the way people will see will change but at the moment there's only one team called Manchester in the CL so there's no need to say the full name to make the distinction

If Scum imploded and fell of the top and we replaced them then it wouldn't take too long for us just to be termed as manchester.


If the owners vision come to pass it will change

Oh well, won't be like this for much longer. Soon they'll be rightly referring to City as Manchester. We, not the rags, are Manchester, we embrace the spirit of the City, of renewal and ambition. The Coat of Arms of Manchester is not a prawn sandwich.

In all fairness it's just what's familiar..lot's of commentators refer to us as just "City" which no doubt winds up Brum, Joke, cardiff etc...

I can just about accept foreigners refering to Scum as "Manchester" but when the likes of wankers such as Pleat and Tyldesley do the same, that is NOT acceptable

In fairness to David Pleat (still think he's an idiot) he does make the same mistake with the two Sheffield teams. I remember him referring to Sheffield United as just 'Sheffield' a couple years back.
