Pep Guardiola: The Evolution - book by Martí Perarnau.

So you've got on interest in what Pep did previously even though he's considered one of the most gifted coaches of his generation. Are you a goldfish?
Why would a city fan be interested in barca or b Munich ?
May as well pick up fergies book and read that then.
Will be happy to read what he achieved at city

Thanks to the benefit of two days of long train journeys I've finished the book.

The inside access to very recent events is fascinating - and there are some great insights as to what he will be trying to do with us.

Whereas Pep Confidential pretty much followed the first season chronologically this one covers the second two seasons in what I found to be a more convoluted way. I confess to speed reading some of the bits where the author gets carried away with his own philosophical musings but throughout the book there are some great and practical examples of his approach and thought process.

Anyway - I'm happy to send this on to a City fan who would like to read it. If you're interested then send me a PM with your address and I will send it to the first one who replies. UK only I'm afraid.

None whatsoever.

But the book is about our manager. And I think many City fans would value learning more about him (I have enjoyed the first book so far and will get the 2nd book once it's available on Kindle).

I'm surprised by how many people are so against the idea of a book filled with quotes and interviews from people who have worked with and for Pep about his style of management and his beliefs, providing insights into his motivations and possible reasons for his successes/failures.

It can only provide context and explanations for some of the things he's doing to the team and his eventual aims, and I don't think anyone is referring to it as a bible.

But then again, considering the state of the Claudio Bravo/ Joes Hart threads, perhaps I shouldn't be.

Started reading it last night, and have really enjoyed it so far. As with Pep Confidential, it gives a great insight into how Guardiola works.

Hopefully a lot better,it certainty would have been more of a challenge for pep to turn that team around than just having to tweak this team of ready made superstars about.
this squad is nowhere near the level of Barca and Bayern, no wonder Pep is finding it tougher. This team is not ready made team of superstars, no where near it. Think some here overrate this squad beyond belief, apart from Aguero, this team doesn't even have natural goalscorers in it.

Caballero, Sagna, Kolarov, Fernando, Clichy, Toure, Navas, Delph for starters are not good enough and thats almost half a squad.

Poor Willy!

Considering he's our backup, he won us a cup against Liverpool, he was decent for Malaga and moments like his save against Neymar last week go unnoticed, I'm pretty happy with him.

Apparently (according to his chant) he has hidden talents.

That's the thing, because no one really see anything in them, while Pep on the other hand has the chance of coaching any club he wants right now. Clearly people see something in him compared to the other two.
Disagree with that. I think it's fair to say that both coaches will have their pick of most clubs if they leave their respective clubs with similar records to Pep. Not knocking Pep's record in any way, but if either of those coaches wins a 2nd CL this year then I'm sure they'll be hot property amongst every big team looking for a new manager, especially Zidane who will have followed a pretty similar career path to Pep.

It spreads across every thread quoting the footballing bible.at least this one should have a chapter how to beat midtable teams and put the ball between the two white sticks sometime
Bloody hell, you'll be hunted down for saying that

17 players are away on international duty this week, not a bad starting point ?

That does not say much - there is even a lot smaller clubs that have a lot internationals. How many of them are key players for the big nations?
Kompany, De Bruyne, Silva, Dinho, Otamendi, Sergio, Zaba, Sagnaish, Sterling, Stones, Bravo, Nolito, maybe Nacho. 11 + two halves. 12.

I must breathe deeply...

Repeat to myself,

"I must not let robbieh or ballinio or barcon or mrtwiceaseason wind me up..."

"I must not let robbieh or ballinio or barcon or mrtwiceaseason wind me up..."

"I must not let robbieh or ballinio or barcon or mrtwiceaseason wind me up..."

"I must not let robbieh or ballinio or barcon or mrtwiceaseason wind me up..."

... that's better.

JJ

PS. Thanks for the information re the latest book... just got it, to go with the other two I have (don't forget Pep Guardiola, Another Way Of Winning).

I enjoy reading... it sometimes opens my mind and I hope it goes some way to stopping me becoming a blinkered, closed minded old git.
