I actually thought he was quite transparent. It's the perfect harmony of saying to someone, here's exactly how to do something, yet they don't have the wherewithal to apply it.
About that, I think he's serious, and everything he said tonight said that.
Football is simple, have the ball, work it well, create scoring chances, we do it very well (even if I don't think we score from enough imho).
That was the biggest thing that came out of it, and, don't work hard enough, and you won't play.
He's so intense and he waffles on a bit and takes the interview miles away from the original question nearly every time. Neville's questions were more like him attempting to show to Pep that he understood his methods, but Pep seemed way ahead in his thinking.
My favourite bit (and I only watched the first half or so) was when he said about passing around from side to side at the back , "I hate that!" and laughed.
I hate it too, Pep. Pointless passing where nobody will take responsibility. We hardly ever do it now.
That's what all the football intellectuals used to want the England team to do.
If they booted it down the pitch, they would all tut tut, but if the centre backs passed it from side to side 5 times, then gave it Chris Waddle stood in a fullback position, for him to boot it down the pitch, they would all say "that's better!".
Gary Neville is a prime example of that ilk imo. Full of shit.
No. He's just a very naughty boy.The guy gives me goosebumps when he talks football. He's the messiah.
He was being quite careful not to give too much away. I still don't know if City have a pitch marked out with zones at the CFA like he did at Bayern but if they do, they never show as far as I am aware on club videos and he did not refer to it tonight, which he could have in response to one question.
Especially if he got Pep to sign it.Rat face 100% kept that shirt.
That's one of the great things about having him as our manager: he has taught me plenty about the game. I find myself now saying things to my mates like "we aren't breaking the lines enough" or "that's pointless passing" or "win it straight back now" and I've got that straight from understanding his methods.
