Pep stay for 5 more years or a CL trophy?

What would you prefer?

Haven’t been good enough? The bookies don’t make us favourites out of the goodness of their heart. We have been good enough, we have been better than the recent winners, any eyeball test demonstrates that. It will happen one day, maybe even one season when we DON’T deserve it.
Have we ever won the CL?

Another 5 years, winning the CL would be nice but we would still have the " only won it once" shit thrown at us anyway

We'll keep trying of course, and Pep is the best manager in the world imo, but I don't think we'll win the CL trophy under Pep. Just a gut feeling.

No guarantees in football, would love to win the CL with pep and keep him for ever
Our owners are fantastic and we are in great hands, they are serial winners.
Remember our last three managers have won trophies.
The CL is coming sooner or later
Love it ;-)

So, basically, we haven't won it because we haven't been good enough. Having a brainfart when you reach the business end of the tournament is poor. Likewise, VAR didn't shaft us; Agüero was offside and we shouldn't have been in that position against Spurs in the first place. See Liverpool, Lyon, Madrid last season. We've never been good enough in this tournament and a lot of that is on Pep.
A lot of it is also on the players. In the games you have mentioned and the poor results this season has confirmed that we have a weak underbelly at times. Once our heads go we could go down 1/2 goals in 5 min. That is why we struggled. Not sure what to make of that?

Mentally we are strong enough to comeback. The Villa game epitomises the team. Both the good and the bad.

it irritates me far more than it should when I hear one of our so-called fans saying they are not arsed about the champions league. It shows a complete selfishness, small-mindedness and disregard for the club, its future, it’s staff and players.

Stop pretending or open your eyes. It’s the biggest club competition in the world and the whole club would become better in every single area by winning it.

Depends. On the extent of the claim and the timing. Agree, dismissing it generally, you are right. Hypothetically preferring 3 leagues in a row over a CL this year, not so much.

I agree with you on that. The simple fact is that Pep, widely regarded as being the best coach in football, has failed to win the CL with two clubs, widely regarded as being the best teams in the game under his leadership.

I've said many times that I believe Pep to be risk averse... Scared of losing conteol in crucial games, he overthinks matters and confuses players and supporters alike.

The CL is specifically what he was brought in to win for City and Bayern. While it's clear he improved the performance at both clubs, and delivered domestic trophies, to date, he's failed to deliver on the CL.

I don't expect to see us win the CL under Pep, and I honestly don't care about the tournament.

The 2004 Champions League final was the first in that competition since 1992 in which one of the finalists was not a current G-14 member; the 2004 final featured member Porto and non-member AS Monaco. There have been only three Champions League or European Cup finals where both teams were non-members of the present G-14.

It's as bent as a very bent thing.
