Pep to leave at the end of the season

Will we know this week?

I went back to the post-Bournemouth press conference and Pep says he will discuss his future with Khaldoon but I couldn't make out the timeline. I am hoping we know by the Villa game.

Pep said he needs to know that the players are still listening to him. I would say they are.
No I don't think we will, I genuinely think pep will personally tell the fans that are in attendance at the Co-op event.

He was talking to clubs in Italy but a Napoli journalist said that it was through Mendes first, Napoli wanted to put forward their project but Maresca said he wanted City. Same with Juve apparently earlier in the season.
That's how it usually works. Plausible distance and the agent doing right by his client.

Again, it's a pressure tactic when Mendes is also telling Napoli he only wants City.

It's been leaked for a good reason.

I don't understand why Maresca would be talking to clubs in Italy up until very recently, if he was the only show in town for City?

I've always believed it would be Maresca, but it still points to Pep being conflicted and he's a man who would be allowed to change his mind at the drop of a hat.

He was supposed to leave last year with Txiki and Khaldoon talked him around.

It's hard to say whether rushing the completion of the North Stand for the final game had the motivation of a Pep goodbye behind it?

We were also in a title race up until last night and that is another good reason.

It's truly a bizarre strategy to shift thousands of tickets for a Pep goodbye three days before the final game, with no official confirmation from anybody.
mate, in your opinion,
is it at all possible that after last season's woes and our early form this season being below the levels expected,
that the chairman, being a results-based man, had a chat with guardiola after a few months of this season and told him it might be best to leave at the end of the season?
maybe guardiola agreed or just took it on the chin.
maresca got the nod.

but our form picked up and deep down guardiola doesn't really want to leave,
hence why he says he needs to speak to the chairman.

I didn’t call you a knob, I called you a pathetic muppet, which in my opinion you are. I don’t expect you to agree

I dont know what you want me to say. That we had a good league season? There were some great moments but we were crap at times too. Its a team in transition and some way off our best ones of the past 10-15 years. I can live with it.

Everything is possible, but this is the cult of Pep we are talking about and Khaldoon would never suggest he leave, they are wedded at the hip.

Was thinking more Neil Warlock Warnock.
It's funny how no one mentions Eric tent peg anymore?! ;-/

Or maybe Pep fancies working outside Manchester at a dungheap that has its own waterfall!!!

Pep has earned the right to depart how and when he wants. He chose our club, made us the envy of the world and played football how it should be played. He won't be forgotten, but his outrageous knitwear should be! Apart from them natty Rupert bear tribute trousers!
The future seems bald and bearded, whatever happens. Good luck Pep, it's been a hell of a ride!

I was thinking equally about the first point TBH
If Maresca has not been informed by the Club that Pep has definitely decided to leave, then he should not be putting out the fact that he wants to meet the players next week.
And if he has been informed that he is definitely going, then he should be arranging such matters with the Club behind the scenes, and let Pep make a dignified exit first.
It seems like indecent haste to me, and totally unnecessary. Pep still has a year on his contract and so he would be perfectly entitled to take a short holiday and reflect on everything, once the season is over, before informing the club of his decision.
Both things together make me feel things are not as clear cut as some people are making out.
Why would Maresca want to rock the boat. Makes no sense, just the usual crap gossip coming from X.

Pep's moving on from Manchester according to our Prime Minister at Questions in the House of Commons just now.
Not one to readily criticise the club but, the handling of Peps on/off departure is a fucking shambles.

When the Prime Minister is making comments before there's an official announcement via the club, it's gone beyond a joke.

If Guardiola walks and Maresca has sullied his relationship, is there any other experienced manager, biding his time and wating in the wings?

Tons of them. Im not advocating for any of these btw. But lets not pretent Maresca is the only option. 90% of managers would jump at city job
Iraola
Fabregas
Conte
Glasner
Pochettino
Xavi
Marco Silva
Inzaghi
Hoeness

If things really are that murky around it all, then just as easily argued he was in on it and playing along to throw people off the scent, as Pep cand the club clearly wanted to defer that speculation till the end of the season. He also reportedly spoke to Fenerbache as well, not just clubs in italy. Or, he simply wanted contingencies, if it wasn't all done, either through his own paranoia or a courtss sign from someone at City. I can buy that it may have been a move to push City along, but don't really believe it. I can however buy that he/his team leaked the one Holt published. That's madness.

I know I repeat this as much as Pep's 'one year left on my contract' now, but it is factual, so I'll put it there again. They are not rushing the north stand, that's become a loose runaway myth. It is running late.

Our Comms strategy continues to be a joke.

They have hung Pep out to dry for a couple of seasons now to fight the good fight on our behalf.
