The reason we failed to sign the player is irrelevant. They were still our first choice targets and we failed to get them. As well as the four already mentioned, we've also failed to sign

In fact, the last time we've probably actually gone out and signed our first choice players regardless of wages & price tag was the summer of the centurion season.

We didn't FAIL to get them, we CHOSE not to get them. The club has proven time after time with both players and managers that they will wait for the right man, not overpay and walk away if needed.

Yet we've then overpaid for other players both in terms of transfer fee and wages.
