Pep treats all staff at first team centre

Pep showing his socialist ideals of redistributing the wealth. Always been impressed that he acknowledges everyone contributes to the clubs success and should be rewarded with the spoils.

I recall a speech he did a few years ago to all the staff telling them it was them who make the club what it is.

Compare that to the Catweazle at the swamp.
Why would you want to

Dunno, don’t understand the regulations myself but that is what he said.
If its an emolument of employment its taxable. Whilst Pep isnt their employer he is still employee of CFG therefore HMRC would argue they were paid for their employment (which is true) and the payment was simply routed as a redirection of earning through Pep (not true). Its not strictly the case in this instance but i cant imagine Pep or CFG want that particular argument so much easier to just class it as earnings and pay tax.

Is there a limit on the amount you can gift free of tax? I seem to remember it’s taxable if the donor dies within seven years or something to stop it being used to avoid inheritance tax? Not that it should apply to Pep we hope!

You're exactly right, a gift can be made to anyone and wont attract IHT as long as the person making the gift stays alive for 7 years following payment. Not really relevant here as its purely to stop elderly/ill passing on everything directly before their death to avoid IHT. The PAYE regs are what matters with Peps gift as it still remains a payment for employment. To answer your query - there are a few amounts (of value of gift allowable) for IHT purposes but primary one is 3k a year( To clarify - this 3k a year relates to an allowance within the last 7 years of life)
