Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Perhaps he can Head Coach for 3-4 more years then move into a CFG role where he can provide and implement a template for coaching and player development across CFG members so that they follow the same standards, are aiming for the same goals and therefore we get a consistent coaching and player output. That's a role I think he would be ideal for. Taking his version of the Cruyff blueprint and actually giving it to the world.
Excellent post, that guardian article would fit with this idea very nicely (I know it wasn't about Pep, but it fits what he might like to do in the future).

Ha, I’m an eternal pessimist and already worry about the day Guardiola leaves. Just think from books/interviews I’ve read that he would never stay in a job for that length of time. Would love to be wrong, but like I say any contract extension would be great news.

Pep's record suggests he won't stay a long time beyond his initial contract but this project is something else and a chance to create history in a way that no other job will.

You posted the guardian article, so don't you think they are still selling him the dream ?

He's only just started (this season realistically), and I think he will want a period of sustained success, it was always going to be harder here than in his previous jobs.

I suspect 10 years is optimistic, but at the end of this it will be 2, so another 5 on top would make sense.

Hopefully he sees City as more of a work in progress, and an opportunity for him to cement a managerial legacy at a club. There’s far fewer external influences at City as well, so that coupled with the financial resources at his disposal means he has almost carte blanche to do what he wants here, which he probably couldn’t at Barca or Bayern. Just think that he’s always seeking new challenges and experiences though, so 10 years in Manchester seems improbable to me.

I think he'll extend for an extra year or two. He probably sees the first year as a bit of a write off

He won't have it as good else where as he does here and probably knows that.

The young players we have in the first team, the young players coming through the academy, the training facilities, his Barca pals behind the scenes, the resources to strengthen the squad with any player he wants, an owner and chairman who are delighted to have him, fans who love him.

The only question mark is his family and if they want to be here for longer.

Here we go "his record". 2 clubs isn't a record.

Only a few years ago people were using his "record" to prove how he'd never go to an oil money club like City because he's only interested in historic clubs like Bayern and Barca.
