Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

The team is ageing - he was never going to leave while there were trophies to be absorbed by the best squad any English club has ever assembled, hence him extending. He didn’t want anybody else to match or eclipse what he’s done with it.

Now United will be getting multibillionaire investment, the rest of the league can also buy very good players and maybe even the culmination and sanctions of the PL FFP investigation mean it’s a good time to walk away for him.

This is the most ridiculous post I've read on here in a long time (& there are some stinkers every day) What the hell are you talking about - ageing team?? I can only assume that you don't know our players. Go back to the Caf

Slightly weir comments about the "break"

And with the world cup a possible replacement could be available in the new year, Luis Enrique I would think will quit the national job after the finals.

In saying that I would be shocked if Haaland had signed on for Pep to move on after one season.

I have thought that Pep is off since he said he's waiting until after the world cup to decide. It would be out of character for such a well-run organisation to hang around waiting and hoping and then have six months to find a new manager. And I think Pep has enough respect for Soriano and Txiki not to put them in that position.

If that's right, I could see us trying a new approach. Perhaps a situation where Luis Enrique, who knows our execs and some of our players, resigns after the world cup and comes to work alongside Pep and the players for 6 months thus ensuring continuity and a seamless transition.

He signed his last contract around 20th of November when does the World Cup start?

Wouldn't make any sense to let players go considering they couldn't be given any gametime guarantees and the fact that we made even more signings for Pep. It would be a huge loss for our project and I don't think it'll come to that. I'm sure Pep would have said he's leaving towards end of season if that was the case.
