Many fans feel same way - its not just due to Pep - its the fact we have won it all. If you like sausage sandwiches you dont like the 4th one as much as the first.

Bit of a temporary move as well, you wouldn’t see Ancelloti staying for a long period of time. Alonso would be the one for me, I think Arteta has shown a lot of promise with bringing back some competitive edge to Arsenal in the Premier League. Louis Enrique would have been an obvious choice a few years back but feels like his stock has fallen with his last few moves.

the drop off from Pep will be big. especially in terms of the dominance he created. if we get a good replacement he may win title or may get very far in CL with a strong City squad. but I am certain we wont be anywhere near 4 titles in a row or let alone be in 4 close title races going till the last rounds.
chances are without Pep we win one of next 4 titles with Arse, dippers and one of Chelsea/rags may win one as well. if Pep is here and he gets proper backing the transfer market (not the likes of Nunes, Phillips) I can see us winning 3 of next 4.

once Pep gone the high level of dominance is gone as well.

of course I am optimistic that we wont drop off that much as rags did after Fergie, they hadnt really been part of a title race for a decade and failed to qualify even for CL quite a few times and even when they did they were turned over like this season...

while I think its huge that other younger managers worked with him getting top jobs across many top leagues (Xavi, Kompany, Xabi Alonso, Maresca, Arteta etc) none of them are Pep.

I think especially now it would be great to extend with him while most rivals looking to change managers, those will need time to settle (Slot, Maresca, new rags manager once Clown is fired)...

I agree with this , losing Pep will be a tough one to move on from but a clean break with a fresh mindset will be what we need to get over it

im just worried how me manage the comms on it going into next season. The longer he doesn’t commit the louder the noise around it. It could potentially become a hinderance to our performance on the pitch

we would need to announce officially around March at the latest but is complicated by who his replacement would be. Ancellotti would be a good move as his contract is up anyway so would antagonise the club we are recruiting from

We have dealt with the noise twice already.

Both times it was assumed he was leaving, people had sources, people had 'feelings at the club', people had 'expectations form those close to him'.

We signed players as normal, performed as normal. I would expect the same this season too.

Both Alonso and Arteta would be capable of winning PL titles at City.

You have to remember than before Pep arrived, Mancini and Pellegrini were able to win PL titles. But the team wasn't as consistent. There was a drop-off after winning the 2012 title. There was a drop-off after winning the 2014 title. Pellegrini's 2013/2014 side was very good. One of the best City teams. But fell to a poor level just 2 season later by scraping 4th place on GD.

City weren't as well run back then as they are now. There were some very hit or miss transfers around that time. The 2014/2015 season's signings were pretty horrendous. Sagna, Mangala, Fernando, Lampard (loan), Bony. Zero value in the long term. The club doesn't really make poor signings now. Phillips has been a rare dud.

Pep will be difficult to replace. But there is a nucleus of U24 players to take the club forward. Gvardiol (22), Doku (22), Foden (24), Álvarez (24), Haaland (24).

Lewis (19) and Bobb (21) could step up next season.

A RB, an understudy for Rodri and a KDB alternative need to be key areas to address this summer.
