Expectations. I don't ever remember Alan Ball making such a stupid decision. He didn't have the embarrassment of riches we had tonight. Criminal not to use them.

I know that all the players and fans of manchester City through our long history will have been completely bemused that in such an important game we didn't play our strongest side. Indeed nowhere near it. We may have failed many times in great farce against much weaker opponents but I always felt City were honest. I feel we have all been let down and not by the players on the pitch but by a celebrated coach who completely lost the plot.

bang on mate!! and this is what is hurting us fans it’s four years in a row tinkering and arrogance costing us, fucking play your best eleven especially in champions league straight knockout ffs but it’s king pep who’s untouchable and little city soo lucky to have him, and fucks our youth off so easily...

City should fire him because he can't lead the club now. How do you listen to a coach talk tactics and take instructions from a coach who makes a completely moronic team selection and then compounds it by doing nothing for an hour? No coach should recover from that.

I hope our management have the bottle and respect for the players and fans to fire him. You simply do not make mistakes like that at this level in football and carry on as normal. He might be able to rebuild his career at barcelona but I cannot see the likes of KDB listening to him

I post links to dumptheguardian which archives their content so fans aren't contributing to their revenue.

I always give my all in my own way for City, and unlike Pep they come first not some ego. The least a coach can do is put your best players on the pitch. Is it too much to ask on the night of a Champions league quarter-Final.
