Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Half watching the CL final and thinking City would thrash either of these two. With the benefit of hindsight I think Barca‘s thrashing against Bayern swayed Guardiola to pick an ultra cautious line up.

I hope Pep is able to change his mentality at key stages next season and in particular stops making so many changes to the side, i think in his time here there may have been once or twice where i have predicted the line up and that's it. I also think we need to be a lot more direct, it's all very good tapping the ball around the edge of the box while they have all 11 men back but we need to be hitting teams quickly on the break. Hoping that Foden and Bernardo are used a lot more next season as starters and less of our slower midfielders.

This was Domènec Torrent’s speciality as Pep’s assistant, we havent been as good on set pieces in either penalty area since he left
Don’t think we’ve conceded many from set pieces this season, most of the ones I remember were breaks.

PSG have been in the CL 8 seasons in a row (less than us) and made the final. They also were taken over 3 years later.

RB Leipzig has as many CL semi finals as City, they were founded in 2009 and worked their way up from scratch.

City have been poor in Europe, no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

The difference is that PSG has a man in a position of power at UEFA, which means that they don’t get kicked out by dodgy refs & VAR. in addition the don’t get derailed by UEFA on false charges, yet they’ve completely ignored FFP.

PSG in the CL making 1 final in 8 years might seem more impressive than what we've done, but when you remember that they can play games on Friday night the week before and rest half of the team it makes you wonder why they haven't done it sooner.

We was only formed in 2008 so I think we've overachieved if you ask me.

You can't possibly conclude that City would thrash either Bayern or PSG. We should however have beaten Lyon and would have had a much better chance had Pep not bottled it.

Bayern have pace and power everywhere. They were fighting, tackling, faulting, pressing even in 90th minute, never let PSG have the ball for more than 10 seconds...

Pace and power gives them chance to play high intensity game which creates enermous risk for opponents.

Pep failed there 3x in a row to get them to final. But at least semis were not a problem unlike here at City.

Imo given how PL is we could do with more pace and power in our team. especially midfield and wings. Mahrez is a nice player but if you put Coman or Gnabry next to him these guys are like wild dogs running all game, winning ball back, helping out fullbacks, getting into box, arriving for headers, creating, scoring etc.
Mahrez is way too comfortable to this type of wing play he would not survive in this Bayern team will be intrested to see how Sane will do who does not have the best workrate off the ball imo either but going forward he is ultra dangerous on form...

The amount of work done by likes of Goretzka-Thiago duo, constant running, faults, blocking passing lanes, workrate, distribute the ball quickly and accurately etc. again Gundogan is way too slow and comfortable compared to that...
(even Muller, did anyone see how much he was helping off the ball and how he was basically everywhere all game?)

Pep needs to change these things both in PL and especially in CL.
