Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

There are a lot of people making excuses,

This is simple lads.
We arent good enough and we dont buy well enough. Our form drop off isnt a new thing. It dropped off at the start of 19/20 season and it`s getting worse. We pick different player to start but with little effect. When we Joe public can see the game drifting away from us there seems a reluctance to change things.

Certain player being snubbed. Substitutions being made much too late. The fixation with this double pivot against a struggling WBA with 1 win in 13 games.

This isn`t a blip in form we are turning this team into a shadow of itself.

This is getting worse in front of our very eyes in my opinion. 2 legends of the club are getting old in Kun and Fern. We still after 4 years haven`t got a decent left back, we only have one truly creative player that gets a good level of game time in Kev. etc, etc.

There is one person who has the power to change things within this team, that`s the manager. The buck, as it should do, stops with him. I don`t know how much control Pep has over transfers but Txiki Berinstain must also carry some responsibility.

I sincerely hope he has the vision to see where changes are needed to enable him to find the system to best suit our team.

IMO top 4 looks out of our reach. Top 6 maybe achievable just. After 11 games we are 3 points away from 14 and 8 from Liverpool.
I hear what you say mate and agree with much of it, but I think your pessimism is slightly over the top when you say top 4 looks out of our reach.

Look at it this way, which 4 sides are definitely better than us over the course of this season? Liverpool, yes and Spurs probably. After that we're in a scrap for 3rd and 4th with Chelsea, United and perhaps Everton IMO.

Still love Pep.....but disappointed in numerous things, especially his reluctance to give youth a chance.
Surely we have to give them some incentive and last weeks champions league match was the ideal chance to do this.
We really do now compare badly with other teams in this area......even looking at Tosin at the weekend, he would have been a better bet last season than Fernandinho at centre half.
I fear his ego and stubbornness is clouding his judgement......the very recent complaints about not being allowed 5 subs then hardly making any changes in the subsequent matches !.....what was that all about !
The introduction of Mahrez for either Sane or Bernardo plus Rodri (who isn't a bad player)have has altered the dynamics of the team....(obviously can’t blame this for WBA) but there are certain players including Bernardo, that are in and out of the team and very rarely get a run in the team to help their form.
I do think a strong assistant is required to challenge some of Peps decisions.

He was obviously rested. Pep gives players a week off regularly. Walker, Sterling and KDB have all had them recently from memory. Not a cat in hell's chance he was dropped.
With his past history it is far from obvious but I do hope you are right, weekend will give us a true idea.

Watching Salah last night against an excellent Spurs team. He was popping up all over the field. Defending, creating and generally being a nuisance. Mahrez on the other hand.
Their midfield despite being much ridiculed on here also looked mobile and relatively creative, helped by 2 of the attackers helping out in that area of the pitch.
Curiously I'd say that we with Walker, Stones and Dias and Ederson too, look better at the back.

Thanks for not calling me a **** 8-)

Pessimist yes., I suppose I am. I`ve been a supporter since my 1st game in 1957 at the age of 4. City have made me into one the bastards.

Lets hope I`m wrong about where this team is heading. Lets start on Saturday with a win, any kind of win will do, even a shitty lucky win. My pessimism though makes me think we`ll get a draw at best or even a 2-0 loss.

We`ll see. 1608201363321.pngHopefully we will have a great performance with a resounding result and I`ll look a ****. Not for the 1st time in my life I might add.

It's 100% obvious, mate. He's played his way back into form and been outstanding every time he's played. The fact that he started against United tells you all you need to know. He got given a week off so Ake could get a game under his belt. Bet you he plays in the next game. Dias will get rested soon too.

EDIT - I've just realised you mean he might be injured. Of course this is a possibility.

We all have that "typical City" gene is us mate. My 1st game was in 1966 so I am not that many years behind you!

I just think that in the main, after 38 games the table is a pretty decent reflection of how good/bad the teams are. And I don't see 4 other teams who are going to be consistently better than us. Whether we win on Saturday or not.

What I will say, is I have not been so utterly BORED watching us in a very long time. Our play is downright turgid these days. Fucking awful.

The only mistake pep keeps repeating is his persistence to play certain players in the hope it will come good. He needs to drop them from the squad until sold. Play the kids and give a few others a proper chance in their correct positions. Back to basics and stop being sooooo nice.

If he keeps making the same mistakes then he deserves the abuse. Try Foden and Bernie in front of Kev. Make the changes or it will continue all season. The man is a genius but he needs to take stock and maybe look for an alternative voice that is not Spanish.
Do you think he is so nice behind closed doors?
