Pep's contract situation

Great post mate.
Maybe he will get a stake in NYCFC, who knows?

Pep is a child of the eighties. He loves Americana. Basketball, Golf, the ability to get lost in the Big Apple?

Some of his closest friends live there. Perhaps the pace of life and less stress in MLS suits him just fine at this stage after City.

International football is too soon for him, he needs the day-to-day interaction on the pitch.

He won't jump into the fire at another huge club right away and, if you can help out CFG and still get paid handsomely for it, then semi-retirement sounds kinda good until he's ready to go again.

People don't want to lose Pep because they are scared of what comes next?

We can't be sad when he goes, we should be happy we had him at all.

City are now a giant of the game, and will morph in to a behemoth when we beat the charges.

We cannot allow anyone to become bigger than the actual Club. United, Arsenal and Liverpool made that mistake.

City have been very successful proving life after people like Dave, Fern, Vinny, Yaya, Sergio...

It will be the same for Pep and KDB.
Great post mate, there’s know way we crumble like the rags did,

I'm not as confident at this point. The executives at NYCFC are pretty bullish about their chances of taking him there.

And I think Txiki just wants to retire back to Barcelona when his mate leaves.

Thing is, Pep calls the shots and City bend accordingly. He might consider he doesn't want to make a rod for his own back after reaching the top of the mountain.

I also think it is dangerous for any Club to be wedded to one person. The assumption is City will drop off after Pep, but I'm not so sure?

Real Madrid continue to win, regardless of who manages the team. Our structure is incredible.
Exactly how i read it. This whole club is built from top to bottom. There may be short transitiionary phases or managers who fail but it will be sorted accodingly. We will not do a Man United. A fish rots from the head down.

That's a bigger job in my view.

I agree. I am pretty sure people have under estimated just how much we owe Txiki.

It will be a very attractive role, so we should be able to recruit a top candidate. They need to understand the kind of player City want at the club and buy into the club’s existing strategy; that shouldn’t be too difficult. Getting someone who is a great judge of player quality and managerial ability will be key.

Whatever happens I feel confident Pep cares enough that he will want to leave the club in the best possible shape for his successor when he does decide to go. Unlike the shambles Slur Alex left for Moyes to inherit at the rags. Saying that, you can't help but be impressed he managed to eke out another title win with that squad considering the deficiencies and ageing players it had (referee assistance notwithstanding).

The great thing is the whole ethos around the club: not resting on its laurels, making sure they sign the right type of personality (that goes such a long way to continuing success IMO), re-evaluating what needs to be done to stay at the top. The players are so grounded they never take anything for granted and that helps keep them working hard to be the best. Even with that, you can only go back to the well so many times, so a mini refresh is probably required sooner rather than later. I can understand why Pep might decide to finish up at the end of this contract. But as long as the club stick to the values evident since the takeover there is no reason the club won't carry on being successful.

Success, definitely. Domination like we've seen the past eight years, almost certainly not. Because that's been down to one man who is the greatest football manager who has ever lived IMO.

I agree, when Pep goes we should not mourn his departure from our club but celebrate that he stayed so long and achieved so much. We have been truly blessed.

I would like him to make it a nice round 10 seasons but he will run out of juice at City, which is why, as you point out, a spell at NYC makes sense: it is a change of scene and a far less intense job.

Watching Nasal lose at the French Open should remind everyone that legends lose their juice at some point.

Pep just needs to lie in the shade for at least a year after his time is done with City.

I'm fried after these nine years, so goodness knows how Pep must feel being in charge of it all!!

I actually think the time is nearing where the fanbase needs a reset? I've smelt it even from myself.

Left right on the whistle at Wembley, didn't go to the parade...

I appreciate Pep and the team so much, but I'm starting to crave chicken rather than guaranteed steak every night :(

I want to keep winning everything but maybe in a different way and style, have more risk to our play?

I came away from Wembley and three hours later I was home and over it.

Losing to United in a Cup Final and over it? That's not me, it should never be me.

Many fans feel same way - its not just due to Pep - its the fact we have won it all. If you like sausage sandwiches you dont like the 4th one as much as the first.
